Job Description

A leading professional membership body is seeking a Communications Manager to join its corporate team. The Comms Manager reports into the Communications Lead and is responsible for working on the development and delivery of effective communications acrossall channels, liaising with members, internal and external stakeholders, including agencies. You will need to be able to workacross a broad range of subjects and plan appropriate communications for different areas of the business and across different channels.This will include writing or editing content for the website, social media, newsletters, the membershipmagazine and Annual Report as well as supporting on the development of blogs, video content and podcasts. The role will also include media relations.Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with the organisations goals
  • Craft and edit compelling content for various platforms, including press releases, newsletters, website copy, and social media
  • Managing day-to-day press office activities including proactive and reactive media media management
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and member volunteers
  • Support the communications lead with crisis communication plans, addressing potential PR issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on communication plans
  • Supporting on any editorial needs for the monthly magazine and weekly newsletter
  • Supporting the Internal Communications Lead to help ensure alignment of internal and external messaging
Key skills:
  • Experience working in a proactive communications role with a collaborative team working’ approach
  • Experience managing the output of and relationship with agencies
  • A strong command of the English language with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative approach to the delivery of communications messaging
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in using communication and content management tools
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Desirable experience:
  • Experience of membership organisations
  • Experience in media relations: managing journalists, writing and distributing press releases
  • Experience in crisis communications
