Communications and Engagement OfficerSouthwark £21/hr Start date: ASAPPURPOSE OF THE JOBTo develop and deliver a comprehensive engagement and communications plan to support the councils Climate Change strategy with both internal and external audiences. To work seamlessly between the climate change team and the external affairs team to ensurea joined up approach which maximises impact across this complex programme of work. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES1. To lead on the development, management and delivery of an outward facing communications and engagement programme to ensure that local people and other key stakeholders are informed, listened to and involved in the councils climate change work.2. Work with colleagues in the communications team and wider external affairs team to ensure delivery of communication and engagement activity related to climate change, and ensure consistency of message3. To manage the councils resident engagement in relation to climate change, including driving behavioural change and public campaigning activity.4. Working with the web team and communications team, help develop the councils digital climate change work, including climate change aspects of our website and other digital platforms 5. Raise awareness of climate change the councils work by preparing information for the public through our digital and print media, as well as contributing to public campaigns to inform and change public behaviours. Knowledge, including educational qualifications:1. Good knowledge of the most effective ways to communicate with a range of different stakeholders2. Educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and aptitude. 3. Ability to write and deliver an effective communications and engagement plan4. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of local government and the context in which it operates.5. A good knowledge and understanding of a range of climate change and environmental sustainability issues. Experience:6. Experience of communicating with residents and stakeholders using a range of different channels7. Experience delivering inspiring change campaigns 8. Experience of engaging with people at all levels of an organisation and in a variety of different roles, adapting personal style to suit the circumstances9. Working with and supporting senior managers at a strategic level and ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism.10. Experience of organising events
