Job Description

World Leading Global Energy Oil Company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Oil Operator. Commercial Operators are responsible for oil and freight operations to the various business desks and work alongside Traders / Trading Managers to optimize the deal portfolio to provide commercial benefits to the business. The oil supply and trading environment is often dynamic and fast moving. Operators often have to be able to respond quickly and accurately to challenging and sometimes conflicting deadlines in order to comply with business needs and policy guidelines. This position is a key part of the Trading & Supply global network, This is one of the largest trading and shipping companies worldwide and continues to be a dynamic and rapidly growing business with some 16 trading offices in such places as Houston, London, Singapore, Dubai, Bahamas etc.The Role:*The Commercial Operator is responsible for oil operations to the Base Oils / Bitumen trading desks*Ensure that all obligations arising from the contract/charter party are carried out and seek to add value by exercising embedded commercial and logistical deal options by using a pro-active approach to problem solving, in tandem with the wishes of the Traders.*Highlight any contract optimisation opportunities, thinking on your feet to deal with contractual problems (e.g. off spec cargoes, production delays, vessel delays, etc.) and ensuring that these are managed professionally and optimally for the trading business.*Deal with oil and freight counterparties, terminals, vessels, agents and inspectors on a regular basis regarding all post-deal activities ensuring operations are expedited and all necessary operational information is communicated in good time and documentary requirements are met.*Make oil and vessel nominations, prepare and send voyage orders and monitor progress of vessels. Appoint independent inspectors, expeditors and ships agents.*Ensure that all oil and freight operational information is entered into Trading systems (FED/DEX, GMAS, RADAR etc.) *Understand the potential commercial impact of cargo/demurrage claims and ensure that the necessary commercial actions are taken to protect the business position both during and after the physical activity.*Work closely with post deal and demurrage teams once live voyages are completed to ensure voyages are closed out in a timely manner.The Candidate:*3-5 years oil operations experience in Base Oils or Bitumen*Knowledge of Trading systems such as RADAR / DEX / GMAS.*Understanding of pricing structures and the concept of pricing exposure would be desirable.*Trading Operations & Documentation *Value-chain Management & E2E Profitability *Compliance Control & Risk Management *Trading Risk Management *Supply Chain Contracts & Negotiation This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment.
