Job Description

Commercial Finance Lead, Energy Sector, Central London (Hybrid), £65,000We have a fantastic opportunity to join an established energy company as a Commercial Finance Lead. Working closely with Finance and Sales you’ll be responsible for all pre and post signing activity.Key Responsibilities: Pre-Signing.

  • Review and sign off on pricing models at pre-proposal and pre-signing stages.
  • Align payment terms with customers and suppliers to ensure cash neutrality throughout project lifecycle.
  • Build detailed understanding of supply chain to challenge and verify cost assumptions.
  • Support procurement negotiations with key supply chain partners.
  • Build in-depth understanding of different contract forms, varying customer compliance requirements and the Group’s funding arrangements to:
    • o Support sales in leading contract discussions with customers; and
    • o Ensuring correct assumptions are reflected in the pricing model and any variations (e.g. to interest rates) are promptly reflected.
  • Prepare contracts for signing and lead engagement with customers to get them signed.
Post-signing.
  • Maintain close alignment with Operations team through the installation phase to:
    • o Identify contract variations and communicate price implications to customer.
    • o Ensure all paperwork is prepared in good time ahead of project completion; and
    • o Liaise with client to ensure prompt sign-off of paperwork following completion (and at stage gates where relevant) to allow for funding / invoicing
  • Maintain project-level net cash position for each project.
  • Work with Finance team to review project margins and analyse variances to plan post-contract completion.
Other.
  • Support with audit and funder reporting requirements.
  • Ensure learnings (e.g. from variance analysis) are promptly shared across Finance, Operations and Sales teams.
Person Requirements:
  • Past experience in a similar role and with a commercial finance background.
  • Past experience working with intermediaries with one or all of leasing, lending or asset finance products and services.
  • Past experience that’s had a focus on providing services for SME businesses.
  • Self-starter, highly organised with strong time management skills.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer focus with a desire to support and meet the needs of our users.
  • The ability to multitask, balancing the requirements of multiple stakeholders at the same time.
