Job Description

Care First Recruitment Ltd are currently recruiting for Children and Young People Support Workers for a leading childrens, family and learning disability charity in various London BoroughsThe charity are recruiting for several support workers to support children and young people in the Childrens service which for the last 20 years provide overnight, weekend or longer stays for children and young people up to the age of 18 who have multiple,complex, and sometimes profound disabilities and other health needs.The ideal candidate will have a strong confident personality, a fantastic sense of humour and a willingness to work with vulnerable/ challenging teenagers who may have challenging behaviour, past trauma, social and emotional difficulties, and mental healthdifficulties.LOCATIONS:

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. To build relationships and providing practical &emotional support to the children/young people who use the service.2. To support children/young people with their daily routine. This may include personal care, religious and cultural beliefs, mobility, administering medication and any health-related procedures.3. To promote independence. To enable children/young people to develop their social skills and to access appropriate leisure activities and promote their participation and independence4. To safeguard children/ young people who use the service5. To be responsible for shift leading6. To carry out key working sessionsEXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Experience in a residential or respite setting with children / young people with learning disabilities is desirableWillingness to study for NVQ 3 Caring for children and young peopleEnglish and Maths to GCSE Grade C or equivalentKnowledge of child protection practiceUnderstanding of equal opportunitiesKnowledge of Key workingExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Good I.T. skills (including Word, Excel and use of e-mail)Working hours are on a shift pattern rota basis including some weekend working and some sleep-ins or waking night work (paid as a separate payment per night). Day shifts times vary between 7am to 10pm (subject to the needs of the service). Night shifts timesvary between 8pm to 10am (subject to the needs of the service).All applicants must have a right to work in the UK, satisfactory references for the immediate 5 years and an Enhanced DBS.
