Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Chef to join our friendly team at a busy Westminster site.Main Duties & Responsibilities of the RoleDeliver a consistent level of service within the Companys standard & contract specification and agreed performance, qualitative and financial targetsEnsure all costs & expenditure is within the budgeted levels agreed between the Client & OCS. Control all costs such as labour, expenses, cash purchases as agreed with your line managerEffectively manage the preparation and completion of menu planning, ordering & accurate stock control. Timely recording & remitting of all company bookwork. Obtaining purchases from OCS nominated suppliers.Assist with disciplinary and grievance issues consistently, fairly and in line with company policyComply with Company & statutory regulations relating to Food Safety, Health & Safety At Work, Cleanliness, COSHH, Fire & Accident Reporting. Maintain all records in line with legislation and company policy.Carry out on the job training in such areas as Food Safety, Health & Safety, Unit evacuation policy, dangerous equipment and basic food hygiene.Ensure Food Cost percentage targets are met.Initiate a process of continuous improvement by undertaking company promotions & extraordinary merchandising initiatives to ensure the profitable growth of the contract.Take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the General manager or assistant manager. Have strong leadership and influencing skills in order to deliver instructions by your line manager.Effectively manage and control the food cost percentage in line with the unit budget.Able to accurately cost recipes and menu plan. Excellent craft skills incorporating food presentation.Ensure practise and procedures are followed in line with Company PoliciesControl portion sizes and wastage. Train and supervise staff in accordance to this.Control stocks & Company assets. Ensure Company controls are adhered to.Ensure that all clients and customers are dealt with promptly and courteously according to company standards.Liaise with clients confidently and tactfully. Maintain excellent client relationship.Pre-empt problems and act to avert them.Re-act to client and customer feedback to maintain or improve standards.Must be fair minded and not discriminate or hold prejudices.Knowledge and ability to encourage and develop all team members.Must set a good example to other team members.Able to effectively build a team together to increase productivity. Organise a team to adapt to changing priorities.Meet agreed deadlines set by your line manager.To perform any other duties which may be reasonably required by your Line Manager or the company.Maintain full compliance with ISO9002 & ISO14002 requirements for which you have a responsibility.To be successful in this role, you will needEducated to GCSE level or equivalent706/1/2 or equivalentHND Membership of HCIMA desirableAdvanced Food Hygiene CertificatePractical experience in a quality establishmentManagement experience within catering environment gained in contract cateringGood knowledge of Food Safety & Health & Safety.Must be a qualified chef with flair and imagination. Full craft background.Must have a full understanding of cost control.Computer literate.Fully fluent in spoken & written English.Able to motivate and develop subordinates.Must be flexible and adaptable.Be proactive at all times.Able to communicate effectively at all levels in the organisation.Customer focused.Excellent personnel management skills. Must be able to train and deliver.A strong motivator and team building skills.
