Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an operator with previous experience dealing with middle distillates to join the products team in the London office. The roles focus will be primarily gasoil and diesel cargoes, with potential requirement to cover Jeton an ad-hoc basis. The candidate must be organised with attention to detail and a good communicator. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for accurate and timely input into internal systems and which is a key performance indicator.The role will be cargo operations:Cargo Operations

  • Responsible for adhering to the timing requirements in the Operation Procedures.
  • Monitor cargo movements, identify quantity losses and quality off-spec; lodge and follow up claims on quantity and quality.
  • Observe B/L date and B/L quantity of all hedged cargoes/barges and keep trader informed of any changes.
  • Input Physical trades’ data in in-house trading systems promptly and accurately.
  • Process purchase and service invoices and issue sales invoices for physical trades.
  • Liaise with claims team regarding issuance / settlement of demurrage, deviation, interim cost etc to counterparty prior timebar.
  • Review and counter the purchase and sales contracts, liaise with charterers/ship ops and obtain vessels / barges approval by the terminal, send documentation instructions, appoint inspection company, ensure letter of credit or letter of indemnity is inplace where applicable, apply insurance when necessary.
  • Responsible for storage management for terminals.
  • Monthly P&L reconciliation with internal trading systems Physical trades.
  • Ensuring weekly/monthly reports are completed per HQ requirements.
  • Proactively build strong relationships with internal companies, external counterparties, brokers, inspection companies and storage operators. Leverage on these relationships to commercially aid the business and grow their position in the market.
Qualifications:
  • Educated to degree level or degree level qualification, numerate and/or analytical degree preferred such as Maths, Statistics or Economics etc.
Skills:
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with data and inputting into computer systems
  • Highly numerate
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities at any time
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to work with people from different cultures
  • Ability to deal with routine and occasionally monotony as some tasks will be repetitive
  • Pro-active, flexible and self-motivated - self-starter
Knowledge/Experience:
  • Ideally two to three year’s work experience in a similar position.
  • Good working knowledge of ICE barge delivery rules and BP GTC’s advantageous
