Job Description

The Role: Business Manager - WealthThe Business Manager (BM) for Wealth will support the Executive Business Manager and CEO of Wealth, in the effective performance of their accountabilities and responsibilities. It also includes working closely with the Wealth Leadership Teams and wider M&Gteams. The BM is accountable for supporting in several areas:

  • Creation and co-ordination of regular reporting for Wealth and wider Governance forums
  • Good understanding of MI / KPIs for wealth working with the Commercial Director to support the creation, collation and presentation of MI / KPI
  • Working with Internal Comms, support the creation of the COE Wealth comms plan and events review the content and creation and of content for the Wealth Intranet
  • Supporting the Wealth CEO office with planning driving, creation and promoting Wealth on social media ie Linkedin
  • Timely creation of presentations and papers across different subject matters and aligned to governance
  • Support with delivery /implementation against strategic priorities and identify, prioritise and monitor actions related to the execution and implementation of the business strategy by the wider Wealth team.
  • Increase operational ability of the function and assist the Exec Bus Manager and Leadership Team to identify opportunities to optimise work, build capability and promote a culture of inclusion, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • In partnership with the EBM and HRBP, support the People agenda for the function specially talent and performance
  • Networks with peers across the matrix organisation, building strong relationships which enable delivery of business strategy and commercial performance, including meeting customer needs and improving the way we work.
  • Provide support, when required, to ensure the Wealth CEO is prepared (by others) for all key meetings (Boards, Excos, Regulators, Board Audit and Board Risk Committees etc) - this may include the preparation of papers and reports
  • Play a key role in ensuring the function meets its cost target working with relevant stakeholders (Wealth SLT, Finance, Commercial etc)
  • When needed, oversee/deliver adhoc projects as required
The BM will be expected to have strong people skills, developing relationships with key stakeholders as well as all Wealth, Life, Asset Management and colleagues . They will provide value through applying technical and commercial expertise, challenging whereappropriate. Their opinion, challenge and suggestions will be sought in respect of financial performance projections and business planning results This is a great development opportunity for an astute, thoughtful, empathetic, numerically literate, methodical, and entrepreneurial individual to help shape a key part of the business. Key knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills `
  • An awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which M&G plc operates including an good understanding of how M&G operates, its business requirements and commercial objectives.
  • An awareness and understanding of the evolving regulatory framework in which M&G plc operates.
  • Experience of preparing Board and Committee meeting papers, briefing notes and responding directly to queries.
  • Strong data and analytical skills with the ability to draw insights and propose actions on the back of analysis.
  • Experience of providing support to complex, diverse, ambiguous and high value programmes /projects including direct experience of project management, controls and reporting.
  • Some experience or understanding of how executive and Board search works to be able to support and facilitate the process (desirable).
  • Experience of influencing outcomes and managing complex relationships at senior and executive level.
  • Experience of communicating and influencing effectively to a range of complex internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and manage strong relationships with all levels of management, adapting to the internal dynamics and politics as required.
  • High level of diplomacy and discretion.
  • Strong personal presence and resilience with the gravitas to operate effectively at a senior level.
  • Ability to react quickly and decisively to problems, taking tough decisions where needed and able to determine the appropriate course of action needed.
  • Self-starter, able to operate effectively with minimal supervision and comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Able to effectively juggle competing priorities and delivering results under pressure.
