Job Description

Job IntroductionPart of the External Relation division, the Fundraising and Donors Relations Team is a strategic function at the Institute, responsible for securing and managing income to ensure the Institute can achieve impact and increase its influence.The Team focusses on a broad range of high value relationships with philanthropic institutions, corporate partners, individuals and development partners as well as governments to meet its objectives. The Team works at the highest levels including with theExecutive Chairman and CEO as well as operational teams to ensure the Institute is best positioned to maximise relationships with its donors and partners.Generational Global is the Institutes global citizenship education programme. It equips young peoplewith the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become active, global and open-minded citizens. Generation Global was established in 2009 and has worked in over 30 countries in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Europe and the Americas, teaching dialogueskills to over 14,000 teachers and 550,000 students, and facilitating meaningful global encounters between young people aged 13 to 17. The programme has a pipeline of exciting new initiatives including a new Sustainable Development Goals Dialogue Series andwe are delivering a major programme for USAID.The initiative is at a pivotal time of its trajectory. We have recently secured an anchor funder for the programme and we are now focussed on ensuring the programmes long-term sustainability with a more diversefunding base. We are seeking a creative, entrepreneurial and dynamic fundraiser to support the team achieving this aim.The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and expertly stewarding funding partnerships that will secure the futuregrowth and sustainability of Generation Global. Situated within the Fundraising and Donor Relations team but working closely with the Director of Generation Global, you will drive forward the business development cycle, from identifying new prospects and cultivatingrelationships, through to working with colleagues to design and develop funding proposals and pitches, as well as stewarding partnerships through the contracting phase, reporting and grant renewal or completion. Key Responsibilities Working with the widerfundraising team and Director of Generation Global to identify, generate and manage new funding partnerships to expand the reach and impact of the programme, in line with the business plan Leading the development and submission of bids, including managinginputs from technical teams, and building budgets Working with Generation Global colleagues to raise the profile of the programme and shape the programme to improve its fundability Representing Generation Global in a range of fora e.g. network events, especiallywhere it may produce business development opportunities and partnerships Supporting the team to effectively represent the programme externally at events, preparing talking points and key messages as needed In line with Institute practices and engagements,building and stewarding positive relations with funding partners to develop relationships that are dynamic, engaged and meaningful Contributing to the strengthening of business development processes and tools, and utilising existing and new networks to stayup to date with latest trends in the international fundraising space Ensuring business development records and data are up to date and synced into the central CRM database and reported on as appropriate In line with Institute practices, working with the Headof Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships and Development Operations Manager to set and monitor metrics to assess progress against targets Managing contractor/ external agency/ team members, where required, to develop and implement business development opportunitiesWorking with the Institutes fundraising and donor relations team to be aware and sensitive to existing funding relationships or those already being cultivated by the Institute Ensuring compliance with corporate policies, project systems and processes, includingthose related to safeguarding, security and legal mattersPerson Specification Around five years experience working in a business development or fundraising environment Demonstrated success of soliciting significant donations and managing and forging relationshipswith multiple donor sources, including bilateral government donors, major grant-giving philanthropic foundations, corporate donors or high net worth individuals Excellent understanding and experience of approaches to identifying, cultivating, securing andmanaging business development partnerships Advanced understanding of developing and managing proposal budgets and expenditure Outstanding interpersonal and presentational skills with ability to work across teams and in complex environments A self-starter whois comfortable in a team environment, able to think strategically and produce and implement business plans, with attention to detail, analysis and according to targets and timeframes A proven ability to inspire, coach and develop others, including people fromdifferent backgrounds and cultures A proactive, self-motivated individual who is able to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-moving context Understanding of the global education sector and funding opportunities that exist within the sector is desirable Fluencyin English is essential
