Job Description

Purpose of RoleThis role will work closely with the Data Strategy Lead to drive the business and cultural changes necessary to improve data literacy, adoption and use. Through business implementation plans, training programmes and a structured programme of internal communications,the role holder will work across all functions within the EMEA division and interface with other divisions including the Americas and Asia to embed the changes delivered through all data strategy projects.This role will combine data & analytics subject knowledge with highly developed communication and influencing skills to work with senior stakeholders (General Managers/Managing Directors) and their teams to communicate the benefits of improved data use andto ensure the effective implementation and adoption of new data services.It is an exciting time to join the organisation and real recognition of the need to use their data better. If you want to drive the change, you could be the ideal person!BackgroundThe EMEA Data Office was established just over a year ago within the Operations, Planning and Data Department and is responsible for building out the Banks data management capabilities across all EMEA entities (including Securities and Banking subsidiaries)and all datasets.The Data Office initially concentrated on building foundational governance through improved Data Architecture, Data Management and Data Quality but is ultimately committed to exploiting data more effectively and innovatively across The Bank, to drive new waysof working and improved business outcomes. A Data Strategy Lead was appointed in February 2023 with primary responsibility for defining the Data Strategy and providing the capabilities, tools and data operating model needed to be successful. The Data CultureLead will report to the Data Strategy Lead.The Data Office has been formed to really drive data-led transformation through the bank, and this is a great opportunity to join at the early stages of this exciting journey.Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Coordination of business change and business readiness activities for data products and services (both those delivered through corporate projects and those delivered as small change initiatives and managed directly through the Data Office), ensuring thatbusiness process impacts and cultural changes are considered.
  • Designing and leading the delivery of training programmes to improve data literacy and data use across EMEA.
  • Owning the Communications Plan for the EMEA Data Office, using a range of delivery channels (e.g. newsletters, video content, briefing decks, e-learning modules, drop-in sessions) to actively engage with business functions and stakeholder groups.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive stakeholder map and ensuring regular dialogue with key stakeholders.
  • Actively contributing to the ongoing development of the EMEA Data Strategy, with a focus on data literacy and adoption.
  • Collaborating with business functions, the wider data family (including analysts, engineers and product managers) and the Banks Internal Communications team.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & QualificationsEssential:
  • Experience in change delivery or change management with a good understanding of applying project management principles and approaches like waterfall and agile to address cultural and behavioural change.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills: (i) comfortable presenting to and facilitating group of business users at all levels; (ii) the ability to describe technical solutions to non-technical colleagues and produce compelling and business-friendlynarrative.
  • Experience in the field of data & analytics and a passion for using data to improve business outcomes.
  • Awareness of frameworks and techniques for business process modelling and process improvement (e.g. Lean Six Sigma).
  • Ability to plan and manage own work to meet challenging deadlines with minimal supervision.
Desirable:
  • Experience in the management and delivery of data literacy programmes and/or frameworks.
  • Experience of working in an organisation that has rolled out self-serve analytics tooling at enterprise level.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and issues within data & analytics.
  • Fluency in Japanese.
  • Experience working with Internal Communications teams.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, ideally Financial Services.
  • Experience working in a multi-national environment.
Challenges
  • This is a greenfield opportunity where capability needs will be built from scratch.
  • There is a complex change delivery model involving multiple entities and functions and there will be a need to maintain clear boundaries of this role as discrete from typical project and product management.
