Job Description

Background:An experienced Business Architect Analyst (BA) is required to help deliver a future 1st Line Target Operating Model, within its wider Financial Crime Transformation Programme, which also includes projects relating to the improvement and stabilisation of a 2nd Line enterprise-wide financial crime operating model (Project 1) and financial crime remediation (Project 2).

  • The project is intended to provide the business with a comprehensive enterprise-wide operating model for the prevention of financial crime. This will include a clear definition of roles and responsibilities relating to financial crime within the 1st line of defence, as well as a financial crime data model and key design decisions associated with technology and outsourcing.
  • The project will also encompass the phased transfer of existing 2nd line activities to the 1st line where appropriate (e.g. due diligence, alert-handling), as well as defining BAU process handshakes between the 1st and 2nd lines.
  • The role reports into the Project PM, who is responsible for overall Project delivery. The direct business sponsor is the Group Director of Financial Crime Compliance.
  • The Business Architect, whilst focussing on what is required to be delivered within the 1st Line as part of the Project will work alongside colleagues working on the other projects to ensure alignment of design, delivery and quality, and to prepare existing activities and/or newly built capabilities for eventual transition to the 1st line.
  • The Business Architect will be helping the Project Manager to scope, shape and plan the delivery requirements for Project 3 and will be joining an already established Programme team that has an approved budget and defined reporting requirements.
  • The Business Architect will be joining a Programme team consisting of c15 project resources, consisting of PMs, BAs, and PMO support, who work alongside a number of dedicated subject matter experts (SMEs) within the Financial Crime Compliance function.
  • Key responsibilities - Business Architect:Responsibilities will also include some or all of the below and will be expected to manage and develop deliverables that will include the following:
  • Identify in-scope requirements required to deliver a fully functional 1st Line of Defence (LoD) operating model for the prevention of financial crime.
  • Document and define both the current and target state designs and the roadmap of activities required to take the business from the as-is to the to-be model, incorporating and dove-tailing with those activities and capabilities being undertaken and developed by the opther two projects within the programme.
  • Business Requirements - capture, create and manage business requirements and documentation of use cases; working extensively with the business and third parties, as required, to provide relevant support towards the creation of business and technical requirements.
  • Functional Design - Define and document the functional and non-functional capabilities required to support a fully-functioning FCC 1st LoD model that will meet both business and regulatory expectations.
  • Engage with functional areas across the business to determine roles and responsibilities required, and progress to confirm ownership and accountabilities (including 3rd party oversight and management).
  • Engagement with 3rd party service providers, existing and/or new, to confirm capabailities and potential service offerings.
  • Analyse, document and develop business solution options that can be put forward to senior stakeholders as a business case to assess and determine the appropriate fit
  • Scope, shape and support the PM in planning, costing and sizing the delivery of the target model options identified.
  • Experience, Skills & Knowledge - Business Architect:The ideal candidate would demonstrate proven skills in areas such as - competent in business architecture, analysis & design; deivery planning; requirements life cycle management; strategy/change analysis; requirements gathering and analysis; solution evaluation and development; developing business cases; supporting business change; software tools implementation.
  • Financial Services industry knowledge and experience is a must and good working knowledge or prior experience of working in Financial Crime is preferred.
  • Candidate must possess business architecture, analyst and ideally project management skills.
  • Experience and understanding of Financial Crime Compliance and Prevention capabilities, ideally from both a technical and non-technical / operational perspective.
  • Experience of working in a change programme to implement a new target operating model and related organisational change.
  • Experience in scoping and designing to-be solutions, including when there isnt a well defined as-is model already in place.
  • Experience of formulating solutions for identified gaps, where required by gathering information from functional SMEs, IT, senior management and external parties.
  • Experience of managing, facilitating, capturing, analysing and documenting business requirements through workshops, from existing documentation, interviews with internal and external teams etc.
  • Analytically minded with good problem-solving skills.
  • Good presentation skills with experience of preparing papers and presenting at steering committee level.
  • Experience in and ability to navigate the organisation and work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to self-manage and achieve results within challenging timeframes.
