Job Description

This role can be PERM/FTC/CONTRACTRole DescriptionResponsible for leading the Business Architecture work for the Insurance Retail Transformation programme. The programme will be delivered through a combination of organisation, propositions, culture, process, and technology changes that will come together to embody the new operating model. The role holder will be instrumental in driving sound business architecture discipline to support the successful transformation of the business.Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and maintain future state business architecture and blueprint for Insurance Retail in terms of how customer propositions, products, customer journeys, distribution channels, people, business processes, organisation design and technology elements inter-operate.
  2. Own business architecture - define the models required and develop, maintain and curate the business architecture documentation. Articulate design options and proactively engage with business functions to assess the pros and cons of various design option and select the best option to enable the realisation of the business strategy ambitions in a planned manner.
  3. Setup and lead a Business Design Authority (DA) with representation from all major stakeholders within the business and use the DA as the central governance body to ratify business architecture decisions and operating model changes.
  4. Ensure strategic objectives are met, working in partnership with the business, to define a roadmap for the target state business architecture, aligned to the delivery of the Transformation programme.
  5. Support the business in decision making by consulting on technical, operational and business architecture dimensions, to ensure they understand the business architecture implications of decisions and alignment to the business strategy.
  6. Directly lead some design work, which could be for example customer journeys, digital platforms, end to end business processes or information architecture.
  7. Partner with Transformation, Change Management and Technology to ensure alignment of business and IT change initiatives to business strategy priorities and that the portfolio of change supports the future state operating model design.
  8. Elucidate the design principles for all change and operations functions to follow and highlight opportunities for standardising processes and organisation where possible.
  9. Partner with the IT Head of Architecture to ensure future state capabilities ae sustainable and fit for purpose.
Specialist SkillsEducation:
  • Degree level
    • Knowledge/skills:
  • 3+ years insurance experience, preferably Retail.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the methodologies for business design - scope, requirements, key decisions, etc.
  • Be a subject matter insurance expert to provide views on the market, trading and operations.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication lateral thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of Agile.
  • Experience of defining scope and requirements.
    • Experience:
  • Significant experience in setting up or managing a business architecture and design function
  • Proven experience of delivering large scale programmes.
  • Experience with understanding and translating complex business requirements.
