Broadcast Licensing ExecutiveOfcom exists to make communications work for everyone. We regulate the TV, radio and video-on-demand sectors, fixed and mobile telecoms, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate. We are also helping to inform the ongoing debateabout the future of online regulation.Our culture is shaped by five corporate values: excellence, agility, collaboration, empowerment and respect.The Broadcasting & Online Content GroupOfcom currently licenses around 2,000 television and radio broadcasters and has statutory duties to ensure that service providers meet the requirements for holding broadcast licences. We also set and enforce standards for the content broadcast on those services.We have a duty the UK public to ensure that broadcasting and online services meet required content standards and remain fit and proper to hold their licences. Technological advances and new services have led to a greater range of choice of content for audiences.They can now decide what to watch and listen to, or interact with, in more ways than ever before.The Broadcast Licensing and Programme Operations Team is part of Ofcoms Broadcasting and Online Content Group. Youll be part of the team thats responsible for all aspects of broadcast licensing including issuing and maintain broadcast licences and takingregulatory action against those broadcasters who fail to comply with their licence conditions.The RoleYoull primarily be responsible for assessing applications for a variety of TV and radio licences, to ensure that applicants meet the criteria for holding a licence. Youll be a point of contact for applicants and licensees who have queries about broadcastlicensing matters.You may also get the opportunity to contribute to a variety of work across the teams remit as required - from considering requests to change the types of programmes some of our services can broadcast to assessing complaints and investigating potential breachesof licence conditions.Skills, knowledge and experience
