Job Description

Bring your bookkeeping and payroll skills to a supportive, tech-forward accounting practice that advises the UKs tech and start-up economy. Due to recent business growth, our London (Oxford Circus) client is actively seeking a stellar and experienced Bookkeeperto join their bookkeeping team. You will work with fantastic clients to maintain their bookkeeping, produce and deliver reporting (such as KPIs or management reports), and support the team at the end of client financial years.About the Role and WorkplaceThis innovative ICAEW firm specialises in finance, accounting and tax services that help ambitious entrepreneurs grow and thrive. The culture is supportive andflexible, and hybrid working is available.Typical activities for this role include:

  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Review and maintain sales, purchase and general ledgers
  • Calculate and process monthly journals for prepayment, accruals, depreciation, payroll and other monthly adjustments
  • Key monthly or quarterly account reconciliations such as VAT, PAY, accruals, deferred income
  • Post and review month-end journals
  • Adhere to bookkeeping standards and guidelines
  • Meet client and team deadlines
  • Complete and review VAT returns
  • Keep client and team updated on progress and deadlines
  • Liaise with other departments such as Payroll
  • Prepare and review management accounts from information and documentation received from clients
  • Develop and maintain good client relations
  • Liaise with clients directly or through relevant manager to resolve queries or obtain further information
  • Ensure a high level of service to meet client’s expectations
  • Finalise the reconciliations and trial balance at the end of the financial year and pass the client to the accounting team
  • Support the Payroll Manager with the processing of payroll for clients
Is this you
  • AAT (or similar) qualification
  • Previous proven UK bookkeeping experience in a client-facing environment
  • Extensive knowledge of UK GAAP
  • Personable and responsive communicator with a collaborative spirit and desire to deliver great service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, in particular, the ability to communicate well over video
  • Takes time to understand what the client requires
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Numerate and analytical
  • Evidence of being a proactive, self-starter who can manage changing priorities in a demanding environment
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel and Xero
  • Documents work and communications with clients clearly and concisely
  • An eye for potential business opportunities that you can communicate to the line manager
  • Extensive knowledge of VAT (desirable)
  • Broad knowledge of PAYE (desirable)
  • Experience with Brightpay payroll software (desirable)
  • Experience/knowledge of payroll and pension legislation (desirable)
  • Must be located in the United Kingdom with right to work.
