The Milk Bank at Queen Charlotte & Chelsea Hospital is the oldest continually running milk bank service in the world and an exciting opportunity has arisen within service for a part-time band 7 Co-ordinator to lead the team which is based at QCCH. The role will involve operational and strategic duties with direct line management of the small team of technicians.Its core function is to;Maintain an accessible repository of Human Biomaterials that are of a qualitative standard for research purposes, driven by the requirements of neonatal units and internationally renowned research groups within the Trust and the Trust’s academic partners.Maintain appropriate records of milk obtained, processed and issued by the unit to meet quality standards and ensure donors undertake screening requirements.Contribute to Research and Development strategy of the Trust by assisting research groups with access to tissue procurement.To oversee the provision of milk to researchers for ethically approved research.To document Milk Bank activities to allow an effective audit trail of milk from donation to dispatch and disposal.To interpret and communicate of confidential clinical and pathological data that accompanies accrued milk to recipients and donors.To lead a professional clinical technical laboratory service, working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department.The QCCH Milk Bank provides milk to the two neonatal units in the Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust and regularly supplies donor milk to external trusts. The post holder will lead the delivery of this service and manage a technical team.We have one part-time permanent vacancy for a Band 7 Milk Bank Coordinator within Neonatology, based at the Queen Charlotte & Chelsea Hospital site.
