We place emphasis on providing a high-quality service to enable children and young people to reach their potential as effective and independent communicatorsJob descriptionPaediatric Band 5 Speech and Language TherapistSalary: £28,0000 - £32,000 FTE per annum including 11 weeks of paid holidaysFixed Term Contract - Term TimeSpectacular Speech Therapy is recruiting a Paediatric Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to work in school-based settings in Lambeth and Wandsworth. This is a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months with possibility of extension. It is a Full Time Role (37.5 hours per week).This role will involve working in Mainstream Primary Schools as well as an ASD Resource Provision. You will be based at the same schools each week so there will be no traveling around within a school day. At each school you will conduct assessments of children with Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and offer therapy to children individually and in small groups. Due to the clinical nature of this work, the company is committed to investing in enhancing the skills of all members of the team and offering opportunities for continuous professional development.The company is committed to supporting new graduates through induction, mentoring and training from a Clinical Specialist. Weekly supervision will be provided by a Clinical Specialist to ensure strong clinical performance and professional development. There will be regular opportunities to complete in-house training as well as joining Clinical Excellence Networks and attending their Study Days.Start Date: July/August 2021 onwardWe can offer you:

    • What does it take to be successful in this roleTo be successful in this role you would need to:
  • Be passionate about working with children, and young people.
  • Keep our clients’ interests at the centre of all you do.
  • Provide high quality, evidence-based speech and language therapy to children with a range of conditions including, assessment, treatment and recommendations.
  • Produce high quality reports and clearly communicate their professional opinion (written and verbal).
  • Be able to consider the holistic needs of each child when working to achieve their goals.
  • Help children make significant progress with regards to their speech, language and communication needs.
  • Work alongside educational staff (including SENDCO’s, Class Teachers and Teaching Assistants) supporting and supervising as appropriate.
  • Develop a strong rapport with children and their parents, education staff and other health professionals.
  • Act as a champion for service and speech and language therapy as a profession.
  • Demonstrate commitment to CPD and keep up to date with new techniques.
    • The ideal candidate:The successful applicant must meet the following requirements:
  • Qualified speech and language therapist.
  • Eligible for RCSLT membership.
  • Desire to complete RCSLT competencies.
  • HCPC Registered.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Relevant placement experience working with children and in schools is preferable.
  • Knowledge of working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience providing speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for children.
    • The ideal candidate will be passionate about speech and language therapy, making them a good ambassador for Spectacular Speech Therapy. They will be enthusiastic and client centred; striving to achieve the best outcomes for every child they work with. They will be flexible in their work and demonstrate the ability to use their own initiative as needed.The successful applicant will possess strong clinical skills, alongside outstanding verbal and written communication skills in order to facilitate the delivery of the highest quality evidence-based treatment.The successful candidate will work well collaboratively and will be open minded and keen to learn from the experiences of other professionals around them. They will be capable of working independently, prioritising, and organising their own workload appropriately.
