Job Description

BA Course Leader Acting for ScreenLocation: LondonSalary: £42,500 - £47,500Hours: Full TimeContract Type: PermanentCentral Film School is a film school based in South West London, running undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as a portfolio of non-accredited courses. Our mission is to give independent voices the skills and knowledge needed to tell their storiesthrough film. Our practical-first approach, allows us to train filmmakers and screenwriters to work in the industry as soon as they graduate, both in the UK and internationally.We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity to join the team with the new role of Course Leader BA Acting for Screen (subject to validation). The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading on the development and enhancement of the Undergraduate provision at the school
  • Recruiting, inducting and supporting tutors
  • Working with the Learning & Teaching Support Manager to schedule sessions
  • Conducting tutor observations and coordinating tutor development
  • Coordinating/Updating module guides and course documentation with tutors, and ensuring their timely delivery to students
  • Supporting students, providing personal tutorials
  • Second-marking assessments
  • Attending assessment panels
  • Teaching into at least one module at each level (4, 5, 6)
  • Ensuring, with the Academic Administrator and Quality department, that academic standards and procedures are followed and maintained.
  • Ensuring students understand academic procedures and policies
  • Participating at Academic Board and monthly meetings
  • Chairing Programme Boards and Course Committees
  • Interviewing prospective students and assisting across admissions and student recruitment activities (eg reviewing portfolios)
  • Participating in Module and Awards Boards and engaging with our University Partners, Academic Link Tutors and other Collaborative Partner team members
  • Where appropriate, supporting the wider academic and student experience
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate youhave:
  • Essential - have a Level 7 qualification in acting and/or appropriate level of professional experience
  • Essential - have a teaching/pedagogic qualification (eg PgCHE/HEA Fellowship)
  • Have module and/or course leadership experience in an HE environment
  • Be passionate about delivering a quality academic experience to students
  • Have the experience to bring practice into the learning environment
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Have a great eye for detail and be very well organized
  • Have experience working with HE systems and VLEs
  • Be committed to working in a collaborative manner
  • Be committed to promoting an inclusive environment in the School.
