Job Description

Assistant Real Estate Fund Accountant - Global Investment Management firm This role sits within a Real Estate focused finance team in the London office of a well-established global Investment Management firm.Main functions of the roleThis role will have responsibility for assisting the financial accountant, including preparing bank reconciliations, CIS returns, VAT returns and ad hoc reporting.Key Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWhile the core key tasks and responsibilities are noted below, over time there will be opportunities for growth and to assume greater responsibility within the team, assuming the desire and capability is there.While the core key tasks and responsibilities are noted below, over time there will be opportunities for growth and to assume greater responsibility within the team, assuming the desire and capability is there.

  • Maintenance of property and fund accounting records to include bookkeeping entries and regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of VAT returns and reconciliations and monthly CIS return
  • Preparation of data submission to index provider for calculation of fund performance
  • Reviewing monthly information received from property managers, querying inconsistences and assisting in providing oversight
  • Reviewing invoices to ensure accurate recording and correct accounting
  • Respond to information requests and ad-hoc queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Adhere to the FCAs Conduct Rules, understanding that they set basic standards of good personal conduct
  • Upload property valuations from Argus system into Horizon
  • Responsible for the overview and monitoring of Metro invoices
  • Assist with drawdown process
  • Update the property listing within the intranet following acquisitions/sales
Experience required
  • The suitable candidate should hold or be working towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA or similar
  • Excel knowledge is essential. The candidate should be comfortable with manipulating and analysing financial information
  • Experience working to tight deadlines and handling multiple deadlines is essential
  • Experience with Horizon would be an advantage
  • Experience in real estate would be an advantage
Candidate profileA confident and professional self-starter with initiative and attention to detail. Strong accounting acumen and a demonstrable commitment to high achievement are also required. Given the nature of the role you will often need to work to tight deadlines andmanage competing priorities, therefore, a disciplined and organised approach is essential. To summarise, the individual should ideally be:
  • Highly organised with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Accurate, methodical and self-disciplined
  • Highly numerate and literate with good analytical skills
  • Computer literate, particularly in the use of Microsoft Excel
