Job Description

Assistant Fund Accountant (Part qualified) - Private EquityMy client is an international Private Equity and Alternative Asset Fund Management group, with more than 35 billion in assets under management. They historically focusses on acquiring well-managed businesses in attractive sectors helping companies and managementteams by investing in expansion, operational transformation or via consolidating acquisitions.They focus on investments into a range of sectors including: Technology & Media, Financial Services, Healthcare, MedTech & Pharma, Manufacturing & IndustrialsThe role:This Assistant Fund Accountant role will focus on supporting the Senior Fund Controllers across a variety of tasks within the Fund Accounting side of the finance function.Key Performance Areas:

  • Accurate and timely reporting
  • Input to certain aspects of the Fund accounting processes
  • Broad ranging support for the Fund Controllers
Main duties:
  • Preparation of month end financial packs
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders to collect information for the finalisation of the accounts
  • Perform analysis, make recommendations and prepare responses on the financial packs
  • Liaison with, and reporting to, the Funds third party depositary under AIFMD
  • Preparation of quarterly reports in accordance with agreed timetables
  • Preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with LPAs and US GAAP, including being contact point for fund auditors
  • Administer drawdown and distribution processes
  • Coordination of funds flow for all events of the fund
  • Support the IR team in their investors requests
  • Undertake first review of semi-annual valuations
  • Management of investment legal documentation
  • Daily updating of accounting software
  • Daily monitoring of bank accounts
  • Managing the allocation of instruments
  • Arranging payments and transfers through the internet banking system as required
  • Understanding of and familiarisation with the relevant Limited Partnership Agreements
  • Reviewing investment committee minutes for decisions impacting Funds administered
  • Liaising with staff in Luxembourg and other company offices as necessary
  • Ensure a professional working relationship with Investor Relations, deal executives and Fund Investors, including responding to ad-hoc queries as required
  • Reviewing and monitoring key related treasury aspects, including an understanding of the FX strategies and the related reporting, management of the fund finance bridges and related covenants
  • Participate to ad-hoc projects and assume additional responsibilities as delegated by supervisors as part of the candidates development
Experience / Profile required:
  • 2-3 years hands on accounting experience from a fund administrator OR an in-house fund accounting role at a financial services business
  • Part qualified and working towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Excellent academics, ideally with a relevant Bachelors degree but not essential
  • Strong Excel and other IT skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A genuine desire to work within a busy Private Equity firm in a Fund Accounting role
