Job Description

Job title: Assistant Finance ManagerJob type: PermanentSalary: £45,000 to £50,000 per annum depending on experienceLocation: Hybrid (1 day in the week in the office - 2 days a week from 2023)EslingKenny are currently recruiting for a growing Media business based in West End, London. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Finance Manager will primarily take responsibility for all aspects of VAT and Sales Tax for the Business. In addition,they will assist with overseeing all areas of transactional finance and management of the finance system while delivering aprofessional and successful service within, and on behalf of, the Finance department. The role willprovide an efficient service withtargets and processes in all areas.Main Responsibilities:Include but not limited to:

  • Assist the Finance Manager with managing all aspects of the transactional Finance activities of the business
o Ensure that all finance processes and key controls are documented and ensure the team maintain as required, making recommendations for improvement where necessaryo Review and Approval of Sales invoiceso Review and Approval of Team journalso Payment run Approvals in the Finance System as well as on the Bank accountso Review key Balance Sheet control reconciliations for the team on a Monthly basiso Review Weekly/Monthly reporting
  • VAT, GST and sales tax for the business
o Complete VAT/GST returns quarterly and in line with guidelineso Work closely with our tax advisors in the UK and overseas territories to ensure that international registrations are up to date and provide them with sufficient information to complete our overseas returns in a timely manner and in line with deadlineso Liaise with various teams throughout the business and our international tax advisors regarding any requirements regarding holding events in overseas territories and ensure that registrations are completed in plenty of time to enable billing for these eventso Work closely with the business so that we have early knowledge of potential overseas eventso Work closely with the Billing Assistant to ensure that our weekly billing is correct from a VAT/sales tax perspective including approving sales invoices.o Review customer VAT numbers and tax status prior to them being authorised as a new customero Work with the Finance Manager and the business to ensure any changes to VAT rates are communicated and updated in all systemso Reconcile all VAT balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assist the Finance Manager in System Management
o Maintain and highlight system issues or reporting needso System testing where appropriateo Develop and improve the Finance system and procedureso System integrations, process changes and onboarding new acquisitionso Projects that would affect Financial processingo Corporate card management across the Businesso Bank and payment gateway managemento Travel booking system management and reporting
  • Ensure that Approval controls are kept up to date, ensuring that leavers are removed from the system and replacements added
  • Work closely with all members of the Finance team to ensure that processes and procedures are being followed
  • Ensure that Company Finance policies are kept up-to-date and relevant
  • Ensure Business process notes are kept up-to-date
  • Assist the Finance Manager and/or other members of the Finance team, with any ad-hoc tasks as and when required
  • Working with the Sales teams regarding any new customer onboarding and any issues that may arise with regards to customer orders and/or payments
  • Build and develop external and internal relationships
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Experience using accounting systems (e.g. Netsuite) is desirable
  • Experience of managing a team is needed
  • Good knowledge of VAT and sales tax preferably in an international setting
  • Ability to manage high volume without compromising quality
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
