This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role at the centre of our Strategy team, supporting the development of the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) strategic capability. About the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) We help people, businesses, and the UK economy by promoting competitive markets and tacklingunfair behaviour. Our work is wide ranging, ambitious and often new and challenging. The Strategy, Communications and Advocacy Directorate ensures that the CMA’s work is underpinned by a clear strategy, impactful messaging and effective external engagement.Our Strategy team is responsible for informing, developing and delivering the CMA’s strategy, working across the organisation and drawing on a wide range of expertise and tools. The role As an Assistant Director, Strategy, you will help develop organisation-widestrategic direction and planning by conducting analysis of emerging trends and issues, that will ensure evidence-based decision making. You will also research, advise on and implement new tools and systems to automate and fine-tune this process, gatheringdata-driven insights and identifying key parameters affecting our strategic decision making. Your key responsibilities will include: Advising senior leadership on strategic direction Leading and managing strategic initiatives and programmes Developing analyticaland data-driven insights and plans Developing, benchmarking, monitoring, and reporting on information and assessment frameworks Driving digital transformation within the function, dovetailing with wider organisational initiatives Overseeing a team who areresponsible for research, data, and strategic analysis Managing the prioritisation and allocation of tasks within the Strategy and Insights team About you We are looking for an astute, resourceful and forward-thinking individual, with a problem-solving mindsetand the ability to leverage software and analytics to help shape strategy. You will need a graduate degree in either economics, public policy, data science, business strategy, or a related field; and/or significant experience of strategy and/or consultingexperience. Strong research and analytical skills are essential, along with experience of using futures techniques, tools and cross-organisational horizon-scanning. You will be able to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams and can provideexperience of successfully delivering organisational change and/or digital transformation projects. Excellent communication and presentation skills, along with an ability to distil complex concepts is also essential.
