Job Description

This role could be based in Cambridge CB5 8AB or London SW1Y 4URSummary:Amadeus Capital Partners is a global technology investor and has backed more than 190 companies and raised over $1billion for investment. A trailblazer for three decades, investing in people who create transformational technologies and sustainable businesses,we now have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Amadeus Early-Stage team as an Analyst - contributing to building the next generation of deep tech companies. We invest in Seed and Series A stage companies and are excited about the globalpotential of disruptive technology.By combining your insight and knowledge of deep tech, in particular AI and ML, with your outstanding analytical and financial modelling skills, you will provide in depth technical evaluations and review the viability and potential of new business opportunities,helping make successful investment decisions as part of the Early-Stage team.As an Analyst, your intellectual curiosity and research skills enable you to quickly grasp and understand new technology, new applications, and market developments, whilst your business acumen and financial understanding allow you to model impacts of financingrounds, produce capitalisation tables, exit waterfall charts and run quarterly fund models. Essential to your role will be assessing deal-flow opportunities, assisting with due diligence, and supporting the Partners with a range of investment and reportingactivities. As you engage in meaningful and thought-provoking discussions with your team and entrepreneurs you will continually deepen and build your knowledge as you develop your career with Amadeus and progress in venture capital.Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Financial modelling e.g., modelling the impact of financing rounds on ownership and exit returns when the terms of new investment rounds are being discussed.
  • Assisting with due diligence on new opportunities by researching market data and conducting competitive analysis.
  • Supporting the Partners by providing input on transactions, and the drafting of investment proposals/investment memoranda for investment consideration.
  • Providing analytical support to other funds and portfolios as needed, including our EIS Fund.
  • Production of market size calculations for portfolio or target companies and support the structuring of new and follow-investments.
  • Together with a Partner, support portfolio companies in M&A and fundraising.
  • Drafting of presentations and preparing charts and analysis material for presentations e.g., investor meetings, advisory board presentations, for existing and new LPs.
  • Collecting and preparing information on the progress of portfolio companies for reports to investors and for valuation purposes.
  • Keeping up to date with market developments and technology trends. Particularly within AI and machine learning to aid technical evaluation of early-stage startup businesses from a technology and business perspective.
  • Managing quarterly fund models to evaluate and forecast performance of the investing funds.
  • Working with stakeholders within Amadeus, including the Finance, Legal and Investor Reporting teams, to keep them abreast of new investments and exits.
Key Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Degree qualified, ideally in Computer Science or a STEM subject combined ideally with a Masters degree in machine learning, data science or similar.
  • A wide-ranging interest in technology, with a particular focus on AI/machine learning, combined with a desire to learn about venture capital.
  • Strong financial knowledge and excellent analytical skills - highly proficient in financial modelling, able to understand, model and interpret financial data, provide future projections and business models.
  • A curious mind, with a desire and willingness to keep up to date with new science and technologiesable to gather appropriate research, quickly absorb data and information and explore new ideas understand their applications.
  • A demonstratable self-starter, pro-active and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, combined with being a successful team-player.
  • An excellent communicator (fluent in English both written and verbal) and able to partner across all levels of a business.
  • Highly organized and effective at time management and delivering to deadlines.
  • Business/work experience gained in a corporate/financial/entrepreneurial environment.
  • Highly competent with IT systemsin particular MS Office (PowerPoint and Excel) and other graphical presentation tools.
