Job Description

DescriptionAbout this roleDirector, Product Strategy, BlackRock Alternative Solution Group Lead for EMEA Multi-Alt Product InnovationLondon, UKBlackRock offers access to a spectrum of alternative investments amounting to over US $315 billion of assets, including hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate and infrastructure, which are organized under BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI).The Alternative Solutions Group (ASG) within BAI currently manages $10+ billion of assets across multi-alternative, outcome-oriented portfolios for institutional and wealth clients. The team is focused on bringing together all areas of the private marketsto deliver the best outcome-oriented portfolio solution and on delivering new sustainability-focused strategies. Alternative Solutions Product Strategy is responsible for building ASGs new products (e.g., innovation in UK DC, EMEA wealth, etc.) as well as connecting clients and prospects to BlackRocks private markets investment process, providing those clients withinvestment thought leadership and transparency into investment decisions. Critical to the success of the Product Strategy function is the maintenance of strong relationships with the BlackRock sales force, portfolio managers, legal and compliance, operations,tax, technology and other internal groups who are responsible for managing and developing BlackRocks client and consultant relationships as well as driving product development and execution. This role focuses on product development and execution thereof -building new investment strategies that invest across the private market space and delivering them in a scaled manner. Key to this role is the ability to study market / client / regulatory trends with a view to anticipating new commercial opportunities andthen translating that strategic vision into an actionable product for BlackRock. Successful execution will require a consistent ability to collaborate with and inspire internal and external stakeholders to innovate in addition to strong project managementand organizational skills. The ideal candidate will also be experienced in handling a wide range of operational topics and will be able to work well independently and in a team environment. The candidate must be exceptionally well organized, flexible, andenjoy the challenge of working on multiple tasks across a variety of asset classes. The role will lead both day-to-day operational processes and manage strategic projects. Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-alternative product design, development and implementation for EMEA based on market / client insights (including structuring new products and designing operational processes for the launch and ongoing management of those investment strategies)
    • New Mandate Onboarding and New Product Creation - Coordinate across portfolio managers, product strategy, operations, risk, and external operations service providers (legal counsel, tax advisers, fund administrators) to launch new mandates and products
    • Revamp / refine operating / business processes to foster scale (e.g., more client assets, greater diversity of product suite, greater geographic footprint, etc.)
  • Coordinate closely with sales, operations and legal teams to develop new products, including the drafting of internal approval documents, term sheets and oversight of fund documents
  • Serving as a point of contact for internal stakeholders across sales, legal, operations, tax and accounting for all client-related matters
  • Coordinating closely with Portfolio Managers, Research and Operations for all prospect- and client-related matters
  • Oversee and work with support teams to develop and review client reporting
  • Enhance processes and operating model with an eye towards automation and scale as we launch new products
  • Remain on top of the competitive landscape, and understand ASGs competitive positioning, pricing, strategy, unique selling proposition, etc.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 6-10+ years of investment experience or prior client service expertise (e.g., investment banking, consulting, etc.)
  • Experience with alternative investments and alternative investment fund structures highly preferred
  • Experience with product development, including the drafting and review of business term sheets, fund legal documents is preferred
  • Superior ability to synthesize complex information and convey it in a clear, concise, engaging way
  • Strong analytical skillset with high level of intellectual curiosity to drive differentiated insights
  • Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent project and time management skills; proven experience in organizing and managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience and success in working with large, multi-strategy and multi-channel distribution platforms
  • Able to quickly build trust and credibility within a complex and driven organization.
  • Team-oriented. Enthusiasm and commitment to working in a friendly, entrepreneurial, team environment

  • Experience with both institutional and wealth clients strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Aladdin and eFront a plus
