Job Description

Our client Lloyds Banking Group is a leading UK based financial services group providing a wide range of banking and financial services, focused on personal and commercial customers. Lloyds Banking Group support a culture of Inclusion and opportunities todevelop to become the Bank of the future and Helping Britain Prosper.On behalf of Lloyds Banking Group, AMS are looking for a Actuarial Manager for a 6 month contract based remotely.Job description - the rolePurpose of the Role:

  • The role sits in the Actuarial Change team, which is part of the Finance Platform. It offers the opportunity for design, build and test of R models and spreadsheets associated with the modelling of assets.Specifically, this includes bonds, derivatives andliquid assets such as infrastructure loans.
  • The models are used for base and stress valuations and also to determine the matching adjustment & liquidity premium.The team consists of c.10 colleagues and includes Developers, Technical Leads and Product Owners that work closely together to deliver changesfor internal customers.The work is driven by a prioritised backlog that includes demand from projects and internal business teams.Broadly this include strategic change that delivers new/improved functionality for the modelling of assets.
As a Actuarial Manager you will be responsible for:
  • Support a series of model developments throughout this assignment.
  • Discus change requirements with Product Owners to ensure they are understood before build work commences.
  • Agree test and acceptance criteria ahead of build work.
  • Develop & test models/spreadsheets in line with agreed approach.
  • Regular review points during the development to ensure work remains on right track.
  • Share results with key customers at "Show & Tell" sessions.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation that details the change, test approach, results and any limitations.
  • Work with team to integrate changes ready for quarterly model releases.
  • Morning team huddles twice a week provide the opportunity to get together with whole team and discuss progress, issues, risks.
Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experienceWhat we require from the candidate:
  • A good understanding and experience coding, particularly with R.
  • Proficient with programming in R, use of RStudio and Excel.
  • Experience of working with and creating R packages.
  • Experience of using Git for version control.
  • Experienced with object-oriented programming and understanding of its principles.
  • Understanding of the principles for asset valuation and the role that assets play within finance and an insurance business.
