Join us and play your part in something special!The opportunity: We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join the Markel team. MINTs Accounting and Finance department supports the eight divisions and offices across the UK, Europe, Canada and Asia Pacific.The role of Finance at MINT is varied, we are responsible for recording financial transactions, providing financial information to the Markel Corporation, ensuring compliance of legal and regulatory reporting obligations, and providing accurate financialperformance information to key decision makers. The successful candidate will be an important part of the wider team within Finance and will be encouraged to quickly establish strong working relationships with colleagues and external partners.What youll be doing:Become familiar with our current systems Work effectively and efficiently to adhere to internal and external reporting deadlines to support increasingly demanding Group and local requirements Assist in the preparation of USGAAP accounting and disclosuresAssist in the preparation of various statutory accounts and regulatory returns, including US Trust Returns Assist with other work across the wider Finance team Liaise and communicate effectively across Finance and other departmentsOur must haves:A minimum of 3 A-Levels; a 2.1 degree or above (or equivalent) preferred A desire to gain professional accountancy qualifications A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) Good communication skills A strong collective approach combinedwith the ability to work independently towards tight, internal timeframes The successful candidate will also be self-motivated and keen to develop their financial and IT skills.
