Job Description

In this challenging and varied role, you will partner with all Macquarie business units to provide advice on the correct IFRS accounting treatment for a wide range of complex and unique transactions and across various projects. You will take the lead AccountingPolicy and Advisory Group role supporting the EMEA and Americas regions, responsible for empowering Macquaries finance teams in-region and managing IFRS compliance as well as local GAAP compliance as required (including US GAAP). Your specific focus willbe advising on appropriate accounting treatments for proposed transactions, supporting the financial statements process to ensure compliance and taking ownership of certain key stakeholder relationships in-region. As the lead Accounting Policy and AdvisoryGroup role in-region, you will be a go-to person for a broad range of accounting topics across multiple businesses and you will leverage the broader Accounting Policy and Advisory Group team in the head office (Sydney) to provide expert advice. Based in London,you will be responsible for building relationships with key industry groups, peer banks and relevant accounting standard setting organisations. Through these relationships, including participative involvement in relevant forums, you will proactively provideand communicate insight to relevant stakeholder groups. You will clearly communicate complex topics and issues to non-specialists and be able to interpret and practically apply accounting standards. Further, you will provide training and present on new andexisting accounting standards in both informal workshops and formal presentations bringing to life accounting principles in Macquaries commercial context. You will strategically partner with your stakeholders, proactively engaging on stakeholder areas offocus, have an understanding of underlying business developments and collaboratively advise on complex transactions. Key to your success in this role will be your intellectual curiosity and ability to grasp complex concepts quickly, coupled with your technicalaccounting and IFRS standards experience. Experience with US GAAP is also desirable. You will have ownership over your work, and be supported by various senior members of the team who will equip you to continue to evolve your accounting technical skills intoa broad, well-balanced advisory skillset. You will be responsible for the development of the team and the broader finance team through training and advising on transactions. You will be a Chartered Accountant with accounting experience either within a Big4 Chartered Accountancy firm or in an Accounting Policy team.
