Programme Manager - Patient Safety Collaborative TeamREMOTE / HYBRID ROLE - WITH OFFICE BASES IN GATWICK / GUILDFORD / BRIGHTONc£53,000 upon appointment - Permanent contract (also open to AfC secondment terms)+ Great benefits inc. flexible working, 33 days annual leave upon appointment plus UK Bank HolidaysFull-time / 37.5 hrs per weekAbout KSS PSC and overviewKent Surrey Sussex (KSS) Patient Safety Collaborative (PSC) is part of Kent Surrey Sussex Academic Health Science Network (KSS AHSN) supporting the delivery of NHSEI Safety Improvement Programmes.These safety improvement programmes of work include Maternity & Neonatal, Managing Deterioration in Care Homes, Safe Medicines, Systems Safety and Mental Health.If you are appointed as part of the team, you will lead on one or more workstreams depending on workload, working with individuals, teams, organisations and networks, assisting staff to improve patient safety, using Quality Improvement (QI), Scale Up, ProjectManagement and Networking tools and expertise. NHSE commission us to work on different workstreams each year though some are `rolled over` to a second or third year. We are excited to be able to offer an opportunity to advocate for these NHSE programmes andcurrently require support within our Mental Health workstream. Our ambition is to develop QI capability, champion the development of a safe and just culture, encourage patient, family and carer involvement and the spread and adoption of positively evaluatedinitiatives.About you and the roleWe are currently recruiting for a Programme Manager to join our dynamic Patient Safety Collaborative team.You will have excellent and proven programme and/or project management skills and ideally a background of working in health and care environments.You may be seeking an opportunity to utilise your expertise to guide and manage regional projects, which will make an impact at a systems level.You will work specifically within our Mental Health workstream, initially until March 2023 when the new commission starts. The post will support the wider team in enabling collective QI capacity & capability building across the KSS region.The Mental Health Systems Safety workstream aims to create optimal conditions for patient safety improvement across systems. The main aim is to improve safety by reducing harm caused to people using mental health, learning disabilities and autism inpatientservices by 2023.To contribute to the programmes aim, the PSCs will focus on creating safer inpatient mental health and learning disability services by using a systematic quality improvement approach to reduce restrictive practices.The programme will continue to scale up and spread the reducing restrictive practice theory of change and change package developed and refined for the MHSIP by the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH) in a national reducing restrictivepractice pilot collaborative, across a greater number of wards and organisations.The successful candidate will predominantly work remotely, but cover the whole Kent, Surrey, Sussex and geography. KSS AHSN works upon a hybrid basis and the role holders will be expected to periodically travel to meetings and conduct site visits, withinthe KSS patch.Your skills and expertiseYoull be the right person for this job if you:

  • possess quality improvement and project management experience. You will also have experience in delivering QI within an organisation and will perhaps be looking to expand your experience in working across a regional footpath.
  • have an understanding of how the NHS works - this is essential and the successful candidate will have gained that knowledge, through their own experience.
  • have a background of specific clinical experience (desirable not essential) or will have had significant interaction with clinicians and health & social care systems.
  • are passionate about solving problems, no matter if theyre big or small; and have a strong mindset of getting things done.
  • actively identify opportunities, deliver improvements, and proactively implement and follow QI project/programme management methodologies and processes.
  • are great at managing expectations, ensuring delivery of the highest quality, and soliciting and acting on stakeholder feedback.
  • have great communication skills (verbal and written), especially when it comes to communicating and documenting programme statuses and recommendations to stakeholders and team members.
