We are currently recruiting 2 Clinical Coders to join our busy Clinical Coding department at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. We welcome applications from both trained Clinical Coders and inexperienced Clinical Coders. An inexperienced Clinical Coder will commence on a band 3 and must be prepared to commit to the training and development required to become a qualified Clinical Coder. Upon completion of an in-house rotation across all specialities and attainment of the NCCQ (National Clinical Coding Qualification) they will then go onto the bottom spine point of a band 4. Successful applicants will undertake their training at the Royal Gwent Hospital and Nevill Hall hospital, after completion of training, the applicant will be expected to work at any location within the Health Board. The successful applicant will join our large clinical coding team and will be responsible for accurately assigning clinical codes to reflect patients diagnosis and operative and intervention procedures using an international coding classifications.The successful applicant will require a good standard of education, coupled with a sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology, human biology and medical terminology. Attention to detail and an excellent concentration span are essential. It is desirable but not essential that the successful applicant will have some analytical skills and experience in a health records environment.
