Job Description

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM UNTIL MARCH 31ST 2022 DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.Is Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, South East Wales the place for your new beginning or change of sceneryAre you a speech and language therapist who:

  • We are seeking an experienced speech and language therapist keen to explore a fixed term, full-time, project position within our Newport locality area until 31st March 2021.

  • Unnecessary delay in discharging older patients from hospital is a systemic problem with a rising trend. For older people in particular, we know that longer stays in hospital can lead to worse health outcomes and can increase their long-term care needs.The project aims to:
  • Support local health and social care systems to reduce the time patients spend in hospital, at the point that they no longer need acute care
  • Be user focused and embody patient centred care
  • Ensure that assessment is rapid, effective and able to mobilise the required services
  • Build networks of services that place more emphasis on the patient’s needs rather than on organisational boundaries. This will encompass multi/cross disciplinary learning and planning.
  • Empower staff with the right skills to offer what is needed and find new ways to manage actual and perceived risks.
  • Continuously evaluate and feedback service benefits and risks
  • About YouAs an experienced speech and language therapist, you will have a genuine desire to make a difference for your patients and your colleagues to lead happy, fulfilled, connected and communicative lives. You will also have:
    1. Dedication to clinical excellence, self-reflection and evidence-based practice
    2. Strong commitment to working in a team by seeking and sharing advice with others.
    3. Active participation in quality improvement activities, research and/or education.
    4. Demonstrated passion for contributing to a positive workplace culture and to supporting the well-being of colleagues
    5. Level C dysphagia competency as per RCSLT framework
    6. A keen interest in service development and data analysis using the principles of Value-based Healthcare
