THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 6 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE A Full-time vacancy for a Higher Medical Laboratory Assistant position has arisen in a very busy Molecular Microbiology Laboratory based at , The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran; with additional services in Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport and Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny. The Department processes a wide variety of clinical samples using both manual and automated methodology.The successful applicant will need to be organised, methodical, have good computer skills and attention to detail, and be able to work in a team.The hours of work will be 37.5 hours over a 7 day working week. There will be a requirement to work evenings, night shifts, weekends and Bank holidays on a rotational basis.The job will comprise of many varied tasks - including registration of request forms onto LIMS system, preparing samples for processing, using automation, stock control, handling and receipting deliveries, replenishing stock, cleaning equipment, electronically order consumables etc.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Closing Date: 15th February 2021For further details / informal visits contact:Julian BendleLaboratory Managerjulian.bendle@wales.nhs.uk
