Consultant in Respiratory MedicineBased at the Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran, SE WalesFull Time (10 Sessions)Anticipated Start Date: As soon possibleClosing Date for Applications: Midnight on 17th February 2021Applications are invited for 3 enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our friendly and dynamic team within the Respiratory directorate at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Part time / flexible working appointees are encouraged to apply. We would welcome applicants wishing to pursue hybrid posts in: Respiratory/Critical care and Respiratory/Acute medicine.This is an exciting time to be joining us as we have opened our brand new critical care centre the Grange University hospital as a part of reconfiguring services in both primary and secondary care.The respiratory department is currently composed of 12 WTE consultants, and one less than WTE consultant, 7 specialist registrars and a team of core medical trainees, clinical fellows (pleural, sleep and NIV), as well as advanced nurse practitioners and Physicians associates. There is a bespoke sleep laboratory based at Neville Hall hospital, providing a tertiary service for Wales, EBUS, Thoracoscopy and Bronchoscopy as well as ambulatory pleural service. The Lung cancer MDT is one of the largest in the Uk and operates as a single cancer pathway.These 3 posts will join our existing team to provide a 7 day respiratory specialist service for inpatients at our newly opened critical care centre, and a specialist respiratory on call for our Health board, there is a minimal commitment to GIM on call currently 1:50.We are looking for individuals able to run subspecialty respiratory medicine for a population of over 600,000. We wish to develop existing specialist services in lung cancer and pleural medicine, asthma, NIV and Sleep services and develop closer links with the palliative services to develop end of life care and anticipatory care planning within our health board. Individuals with an interest in other sub-speciality areas such as bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, and interventional bronchoscopy are most welcome to apply.Aneurin Bevan Health Board is one of seven Local Health Boards in Wales. It provides acute, community and mental healthcare services to more than 600,000 people living in South East Wales, and is one of the largest and busiest NHS health boards/Trusts in the UK.
