Job Description

Yodel is looking for a Desk Based Account Director on a permanent basis to come and join our fast-paced Commercial team based in our Liverpool Headoffice.The Desk Based Account Director will be responsible for overseeing and leading a team of Desk Based Account Managers in achieving monthly targets for business development, volume retention, revenue, and profitability. The role involves managing a defined portfolioof Yodel clients as well as identifying and closing new business opportunities. The primary objective is to proactively account manage and develop clients, with the aim of progressing them through the Yodel value chain.What youll be doingThe Desk Based Account Director will be a part of the Client Management Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to various responsibilities including Duty RAD, participation in central projects, and providing support to the Commercial Director. In additionto duties, you will be responsible, for the following:

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director to create account plans for clients in the portfolio.
  • Implement Sales Management principles to achieve growth targets.
  • Maintain consistent account management standards and execute account plans.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of Bronze tier clients in the Yodel value chain.
  • Plan and manage sales activities efficiently, meeting client requirements and performance metrics.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions of new clients into and out of the portfolio.
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to ensure service delivery and operational efficiency according to client SLAs.
  • Manage pricing in accordance with authorized processes.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with Salesforce.com for sales processes, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Continually develop professional and skills training.
  • Support and guide team members in resolving escalations and seeking areas of profit improvement.
  • Maintain commercial ownership of clients, assisting Credit Control, Finance, and Operational Teams for smooth business operations.
  • Participate in Duty RAD rota for operational performance updates and escalations.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams for seamless onboarding of growth opportunities and client SLA compliance.
  • Participate in central projects as required by the Commercial Director
  • Prioritize client satisfaction and strive for excellent Client NPS scores in all client interactions.
What you need to show us
  • Proven experience in account management or business development, preferably in the logistics or transportation industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients at various levels.
  • Results-oriented mindset, with a track record of achieving targets and driving business growth.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities to identify opportunities, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance monitoring techniques.
  • Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration is desirable.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and other relevant software.
