Job Description

Looking for two structural steel detailers to work out of either our Lisburn Office in Northern Ireland , Rosevale Industrial Estate, Lisburn, BT28 1RW) OR London office in Canning TownJob Purpose:Work as part of the fabrication detailing team to ensure all projects are completed to a high standard and on time, as well as adhering to all standards internal and external. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out detailing of structural and architectural metalwork
• Produce detailed fabrication & site installation drawings for client approval
• Using Tekla structures or Solidworks
• Interpret architectural & structural drawings
• Liaise with fabrication & site installation teams
• Raise survey requests
• Liaise with Quantity Surveyors on changes within the projects
• Communicate with clients and other external stakeholders regarding the status of the drawings
• Conduct steelwork finishes i.e. galvanising
• Manage time effectively to meet design targets set by the Design Manager
• Attend client meetings as required by the Design Manager
• Design projects with glass, timber, aluminium, brass & bronze
• Other duties as deemed necessary related to the role

• Ability to research design solutions and products
• Methodical and ability to design projects from intent to reality
• Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
• Ability to use own initiative and be proactive
• Organise and able to maintain records in a meticulous way
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written

DESIREABLE EXPERIENCE

• Experience of using AutoCad
• Fabrication and / or site installation experience
• Awareness of client programmes
• Awareness of commercial impacts through design change
• Experience of cladding systems
• Understanding of painting and powder coating systems

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

• Excellent presentation skills
• Knowledge of mild steel sections, stainless steel sections and fixings
• Competent use of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel & Word)
• Flexibility to do overtime hours as required
• • Flexibility to attend client meetings in mainland UK if required
  QUALIFICATIONS
  • Educated to degree level in structural or civil engineering related subject (desirable)
  INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (IMS) DUTIES:
  • The post holder must fully familiarise him / herself with the IMS processes.
  • Ensure that all administration is carried out in accordance with the standard company procedures.
  • Ensure that problems / failures are reported in accordance with the companys procedures.
  HEALTH & SAFETY:
  • The post holder must fully familiarise him / herself with the Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Assist senior management in monitoring and reviewing the policy and procedures in respect of revisions to safety legislation, changes to industrial practise, changes to the Companys size and role and any other factors which may affect influence the policy.
  • The post holder must be aware of individual responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act and identify and report, as necessary, any untoward accident or incident.
  • Maintain own personal safety at all times with particular regard to adhering to safe systems of work and proper use of safety equipment and PPE.
  OTHER DUTIES:
  • The post holder must at all times respect company confidentiality and, in particular the confidentiality of electronically stored personal data in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
