Job Description

Butler Ross have a brilliant opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join a global manufacturing company based at their offices in Lichfield. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the operations of the purchasing department and will have a strongfocus on inventory and stock management. This role is key in the smooth running of the operations and has the opportunity to make a real difference with a focus on continuous improvement.This role is predominately office based with ad-hoc working from home.Duties of the Purchasing Manager

  • Create and implement best in practice purchasing policies and methods working closely with other internal teams.
  • Build new and improve existing supplier relationships ensuring a smooth supply of goods and services.
  • Working closely with suppliers, stakeholders and team members who are overseas, this includes countries including Germany and China.
  • Ensuring that stock holdings always meet targets and managing the reduction of obsolete and slow moving stock.
  • Regular reporting and analysis of purchasing and inventory activities, being able to share these reports with management and board members.
  • Supporting the wider purchasing team, ensuring they carry out duties to a high standard and address any issues are they arise.
  • Responsibility for twice-yearly stock takes and producing accurate reports.
Experience required for the Purchasing Manager
  • Previously held a similar role with experience in purchasing, stock management and supply chain management.
  • Experience working with continuous improvement and natural affinity with working with this mindset.
  • Proven experience of developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Previous management experience with the ability to coach, support and motivate team to work to the best of their ability.
  • Proactive mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong IT skills including excel, experienced using ERP/MRP systems and any experience using SAP is advantageous.
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + bonus and benefits.This role would be well suited to a procurement manager, purchasing manager, inventory manager, materials manager, stock manager, category manager, inventory specialist, materials lead or inventory lead.
