Ultimately, it will be up to you to choose your path and the only limit will be your ambition.Youll earn whilst you learn - gaining policing knowledge and skills whilst working towards a Graduate Diploma, all with the support of your new team.To help juggle your commitments you can now join and train with us on a part time basis, so youve got the flexibility you need to achieve your goal of becoming a Police Constable.Police Constable Degree Holder Entry Programme- keeping London safe for everyone whilst earning a Diploma.Our DHEP pathway, fully funded by the Met, builds on your academic achievements to date and youll graduate with a diploma in Professional Policing Practice. Its a vocational course that focuses on practical learning and is specifically tailored to helpyou start your career in policing.From day one youll be employed as a police officer spending most of your time on the frontline working alongside your team, turning your learning into experience making a difference to London from the very start.The DHEP is delivered in partnership with four London universities: Brunel University; University of West London; Anglia Ruskin University; and University of East London. It is a two-year programme.EligibilityWere looking for people from all backgrounds to join us. People who share our values of professionalism, integrity, courage and compassion.See how you measure up against the criteria below:Academic requirements:You must also hold, or be working towards, one of the following;- a recognised or in you final year of a UK degree (level 6) qualification or,- an equivalent overseas degree supported by an ENIC Statement of Comparability (to confirm the UK level 6 equivalent of your overseas qualification) and,- Functional English Language Level 2 qualification.Attaining English language level 2 as a minimum requirement for overseas degree holders. Applicants who do not meet the criteria will need to obtain and evidence their English functional skills qualification before being able to receive a formal offer andtake up appointment as a police constable.Age:If you are 17 when you submit your application, you will be able to progress through our recruitment process however your start date with the MPS would need to be on or after your 18th Birthday. The upper age limit for applications to become a police officeris 57.This normally provides enough time for you to take part in the recruitment process and complete a probationary period before the normal retirement age of 60.Nationality:If youre from outside the UK, its essential that you have indefinite leave to enter or to remain in the UKPhysical fitness:You will undergo our fitness test. The fitness test is a multi-stage shuttle run (MSSR) and you will need to achieve level 5.4this is the aerobic requirement of officer safety training. You must also meet the police eyesight standards agreed by theCollege of Policing.Tattoos:Some tattoos will stop you working for the Met depending on what they depict and where on your body they are.Criminal conviction/caution:If you do have any criminal convictions or cautions on record you can still apply, eligibility will depend on the age and nature of the offence.Membership of groups or organisations:You will not be able to join the Met if you are a member of a group and/or organisation that contradicts our values or ethics and our commitment to inclusion.Joining as a Police Constable on the Degree Holder Entry Programme is a limited opportunity so dont delay and start your application today.
