Job Description

We are currently recruiting for aSenior SEN Caseworkerfor the Lewisham Council to assess and review the special educational needs of Lewisham pupils.This is a full-time, ongoing temporary position paying £21.15/hour PAYE or £26.3/hour Umbrella.Your main duties will be:

  • To work with parents in assessing and monitoring statements of special educational needs of their kids.
  • To brief the SEN assessment manager and panel members on proposed pupil placements.
  • To process applications for assisted transport.
  • To liaise with the admissions team to ensure that the SEN Team has access to up to date information about vacancies in schools.
  • To work together with services within the Children with Complex Needs service.
  • To present cases to the SEN placement panel and prepare cases for the SEN assessment panel.
  • The ideal candidate will have:
  • Knowledge of Education and SEN law and processes.
  • Understanding of areas of SEN and ability to relate this to Lewishams Equal Opportunities policies.
  • Experience of working with children and their families, undertaking assessments and experience to work with children with special educational needs to further their development.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to complete complex processes.
  • Ability to manage staff
