Job Description

Recruiting Residential Support WorkStaff tosupport children and young people across 5 Residential Childrens Homes in Leicester.At Present I can confirm the below:Shift Times: 21:30 - 08:00 or 21:30 - 07:30Shifts:There is potential for full time hours (4 shifts) in two of the homes or also the option for part time hours.Pay Rate: £11.90per hour + night enhancementsHome Locations:New Parks,Netherhall,Rowletts Hill, Humphries CloseThe Waking Night Staff will:

  • show an understanding of and the needs of disabled children.
  • encourage children and young people to develop their personal potential.
  • attend to personaland hygiene care
  • give assistance to all children and young people, as needed, including help with walking, feeding and dressing
  • administer first aid when necessary.
  • serve meals and drinks, ensuring special diets are given to the appropriate children/young people, as needed
  • accompany children for medical treatment during the night when needed
  • assist with lifting children when necessary
  • receive and distribute medication to children, under the direction and guidance of the Senior member of staff on Duty, in line with procedures.
  • complete daily records both written and electronically
  • help young people settle, when their sleeping patterns are disturbed.
  • deal with challenging behaviours of children and young people (including participating in physical interventions if necessary)
General Duties
  • To strip and remake beds.
  • To ensure security of the building is maintained and smoke stop doors are closed at all times.
  • To wash, dry and pack soiled linen
  • To receive, check, sort and distribute linen from the laundry.
  • To sort, wash, dry and iron childrens personal clothes.
  • To maintain a clean and tidy environment
Essential requirements:
  • A minimum of 1 years experience working in a social care setting, for example a day centre/ residential care home.
  • Personal care experience and a willingness to carry out personal care
  • Manual Handling Training
