Job Description

Job Title: Quantity SurveyorLocation: LeicesterSalary: £40,000 - £60,000Hours of Work: 09:00 - 17:00Type: Full-Time, PermanentStart Date: ImmediatelyWe are hiring a Quantity Surveyor for an established privately owned construction contractor based in the Midlands. Our projects are nationwide so would be expected to travel. We are growing as a business and require first hand experienced surveyors froma main contractor.Duties of a Quantity Surveyoryou will be responsible for the construction of retail/ commercial properties with their shell build and groundwork.General

  • Provide pre and post commercial advice/ support to the operational teams
  • Support the operational teams in providing a customer focused service and attaining the highest standards of operational delivery to maximise projects profitability and minimise risk
  • You will be responsible for tender enquiries
  • Support the projects by providing advice and feedback in the promotion of best commercial practice throughout the company
  • You will be required to complete take offs and populate BOQs/CSAs to SMM7
  • Experience in design and build
  • Complete the estimation of internal valuations
  • Dealing with sub-contract orders
As a Quantity Surveyor, you need have:
  • Behavioural attitudes, conduct and demeanour that truly reflects the company values
  • Effectively represent the company when dealing with customers and consultants
  • Very strong negotiation skills
  • Desire to share and influence in the future growth and success of the business
  • Flexible approach to accommodate the demands of an expanding company
  • Effectively apply and manage commercial activities in a business environment
  • Able to work on own initiative and be able to schedule workload to meet priorities
  • Supply a portfolio upon request during interview stage
Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent telephone manner - can communicate effectively, efficiently, and professionally to all customers
  • A logical thought process to resolve queries
  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • Ability to work on your own, demonstrating drive and initiative
  • Team player, willing to share ideas and techniques with other team colleagues to improve business
It would be beneficial to the Quantity Surveyor if you also had:
  • Knowledge of the construction sector
  • HND/Degree qualification.
  • Preferred chartered builder/ surveyor.
  • Previous sales coordination or similar experience
