Job Description

Plant Maintenance TechnicianLocation: LeicesterPosition Type: Full-timeMetalisare working with a leading recycling company, providing a wide variety of waste management and recycling solutions. We are seeking a skilled Plant Maintenance Technician to join their team. As a Plant Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the recycling processing equipment. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshootingequipment issues, and implementing timely repairs to minimize downtime. You will work closely with the MRF Managers and Operations Manager to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Implement and execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as inspections, lubrication, and cleaning of conveyor systems, hydraulics, and other plant equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and address them promptly to prevent breakdowns.
  • Experience in major refurbishment work on engines, axles, brakes, etc., ensuring the longevity of equipment.
  • Collaborate with MRF Managers and Operations Manager to provide effective responses to equipment breakdowns, minimizing production interruptions.
  • Timely and accurate reporting to depot managers regarding maintenance activities and equipment status.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and a proactive approach to plant repairs.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Health and Safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Investigate and address any health and safety issues promptly, taking appropriate action as necessary.
  • Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate maintenance needs and production schedules.
  • Ensure all associated administrative duties are completed according to company procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all interactions.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in maintaining conveyor systems, hydraulics, and mobile/static plant equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and management.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Valid drivers license.
Salary: Up to £42,000 (negotiable DOE)Hours: Mon-Fri (Weekend availability)Job Type: Perm, Full-timeRequired skills
