Unipart Logistics (UL) are partnering with Jaguar Land Rover to run the new, custom-built GlobalParts Logistics Centre at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire. The operation is housed at the new Mercia Park campus, one of the largest UK warehouse developments for a single customer. It allows everyone in our team to pursue their own personal and professional goals to a world class level, through Uniparts From Gate to Great’ training and development program.As our Head of Freight and Transport you will be responsible and accountable for the tactical and strategic delivery of the Inbound and Outbound flow of products via third party carrier networks. You’ll be a key influencer in driving OTIF and excellent customersatisfaction. Working closely with our existing and potential service providers you’ll identify opportunities to develop a wider multi-carrier strategy and lead projects, ensuring the right product is delivered via the right route at the right cost.As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

• Own the performance and reporting of our carrier partners through structured reporting and review sessions
• Ensure the continuity of supply, quality and deliveries within the SLA
• Develop/build upon strategic partnerships to ensure we have the insight to develop propositions for our customers
• Establish robust and insight driven end-to-end reporting, across the entire carrier bass, giving greater visibility to internal parties/stakeholders
• Manage annual budgets and associated costs
• Support the ongoing development of talent in line with Unipart’s (UL) vision and values
• Work with both internal and external stakeholders to identify improvements and optimisation and lead the drive for transformation with the Transport & Freight function
• Understand in detail our customers supplier base global, volumes and inbound/outbound strategies
• Providing regular high-quality executive reporting through the utilisation of data and reports to drive benefits realisation and to look for data driven solutions for optimising both our and our customers distribution capacities
• Deliver strategies which maximise customer revenue and other related opportunities, working closely with product, operations and marketing
• Support the UL teams to present proposals to both internal and external customers
• Drive cross-sell and upsell revenue from our existing customer base

• Operational experience within a large scale transport and distribution organisation
• Solid analytical skills with sound problem solving abilities.
• Strong project management skills including ability to multi-task and balance priorities.
• Able to work effectively in high pressure situations and be able to meet deadlines
• Experience of designing/implementing and/or working with a Global Transport Management System and plug-in applications.
• Track record of being customer focused with exceptional communication skills
• Effective teacher, mentor, coach, promoter and developer of individuals
• Demonstrable experience in facilitation of new set up in the transport/freight function
• Experienced in leading and managing team performance in a fast paced, customer led operational environment
• Excellent background in implementation of digital applications, process improvements, cost saving initiatives across transport functions within a large progressive company
• Highly tolerant of change and able to drive change within an evolving business organisation
• Ability to react and make decisions quickly in a changing environment
