Job Description

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT/STUDY. RECfinancial are delighted to be recruiting for this North Leicestershire based business as they continue to grow and shape for the future. The business has seen significant and exciting changes over the past 12 months and are now looking to strengthen their Finance team with the appointment of an Accounts Assistant. What Is the Role of the Accounts AssistantReporting into the Finance Manager the Accounts Assistant role will be to support all aspects of general accounting and finance within the Finance Team and to contribute to the achievement of financial objectives. What Do They Want as an Accounts Assistant Ideally you will possess strong Accounts knowledge to include the following;

  • To oversee cash allocation and postings for currency accounts as part of daily cashiering routines (Euro, Dollar etc)
  • To manage statement reconciliations regarding the above and queries that arise
  • Regular bank reconciliations for those accounts under your responsibility
  • To provide cover for other tasks within the team as and when required, such as Direct Debit defaults, cash postings and allocations for GBP accounts and Claims Payments (full training will be provided). Also providing support to the team, the wider businessand external clients in general PI related queries
  • Oversee Client Refunds to recognised timescales
  • Providing copy statements upon request including monthly routines
  • Assisting in minimising Unallocated Cash and providing updates where required
  • Entering payments onto banking systems such as Nat West and BOA
  • Overseeing and reconciling Worldpay charges and amounts
  • Building and maintaining relationships with brokers and trading partners
  • Assisting with month end routines and procedures - including the close down of PI systems on a rota basis
  • Assisting with Credit Control functions and processes as and when required (full training will be provided)
  • Adhoc duties as required by management including providing support when colleagues are on annual leave/sickness and assisting in other tasks for other lines of business within the Leicester finance remit
Who Do They Want as an Accounts AssistantThis role is very much focused on having the right attitude and aptitude. Being an Accounts Assistant is necessary but having a strong focus in Accounting is essential. As an individual, you will have the drive, passion and hunger to grow within the role. Ideallyyou will posses some of the skills below;
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in a cashiering role
  • Sound knowledge of double entry accounting
  • Experience of cash allocation and pro-actively minimising unallocated cash
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Problem solving and query resolution abilities
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
