Job Description

Were recruiting for a Toolmaker for an exciting and dynamic company, offering excellent progression opportunities for the right candidate.As a Toolmaker, you will be manufacturing jigs and tools (press tooling) in accordance with drawings/3D models, contribute and work in supporting the main factory on trials, troubleshooting and improvements. You will be willing to apply lean tools and activitiesthroughout the job function and continually strive to bring new methodologies and technology into the business.Key Responsibilities for a Toolmaker

  • Competent use of manual milling machine and centre lathe, surface grinder, wire EDM machines and hole start EDM machine
  • Competent fitting skills
  • Knowledge of CADCAM software, preferable One CNC and/or Fikus
  • Manufacture and assembly of punch tools for various types of press tool equipment
  • Assist on the first trials of newly manufactured tooling
  • Carry out tool repairs to progressive tooling, 2nd operation tooling and cutting fixtures
  • Modify existing tools to improve production processes
  • Assist in the company continuous improvement plan for the other COBA group companies
  • Involved in the repair and preventative maintenance of existing tooling
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and tidy
  • Ensure that safe working practices are adopted
  • Any other reasonable request by a Supervisor, Manager or Director
Essential Skills and Experience for a Toolmaker
  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Experience in milling, turning, grinding and fitting
  • Able to work from Drawings or 3D models
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Self - motivated individual
  • Possess excellent attention to detail
Desirable Skills and Experience for a Toolmaker
  • EDM knowledge and skills
  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • CAM experience, preferably in OneCNC or Fikus
  • 2D or 3D drafting (basic)
