Wilmington Plc are now recruiting for a Technical Data Lead!Technical Data LeadLocation: Hybrid – London, Birmingham or Leicester officeWhy do we want youYou are an experienced Technical Data Lead / Data Engineer looking for a data role offering a high level of variety with personal responsibility & autonomy.Your tech stack expertise is; Tableau/PowerBI server infrastructure, data modelling and SQL/database design, programming skills – specifically those used in managing data and integration data systems and data sources, T-SQL, Python, SQL Server, Online AnalyticalProcessing (OLAP) and Tabular data models, Python, C#/.Net, SnowFlake, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and you’ve worked in a cloud data environment (e.g. AWS, Azure, Snowflake).A bit about us.We’re Wilmington PLC, a 12-brand group united by governance, risk and compliance.Acting as a trusted partner across our Intelligence, Training & Education divisions, we help our customers to do the right business in the right way as they navigate the Regulatory Compliance landscape.If you’re looking for innovation, opportunity, and community, you’ll find them all and more here.Job purpose, tasks and responsibilitiesAs a Technical Lead you will design and implement data flows to connect operational systems and make data available for data analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems so you will need to be exceptionally competent in data assessment and profiling,source system analysis and be able to provide a clear vison on how the data can be managed to support the end use of the data.You will also be competent in data modelling and integration of data from multiple sources to fulfil specific business needs along with having strong data management skills to store and make data available for data analysts.You will have previously worked as a data engineer or similar as you will need to possess both programming and data transformation skills and be able to complete data projects from end to end where required.The Technology Data remit covers both internal data as well as product and client data so you will need to be extremely comfortable working with a variety of internal and external clients and stakeholders.You will be someone who enjoys keeping abreast of data technologies and trends and making recommendation for improvement and innovation to increase data maturity within the business, and you will be keen to promote the growth and advancement of the TechnologyData Team by presenting high quality insights to business leaders.Key duties within the Technical Data Lead role include:

  • Liaising with suppliers (Legacy Platforms / Dealing with Suppliers & Clients / Newly built platforms) E.g. Data issues / supplied file issues etc
  • Management of infrastructure (AWS / Azure)
  • Designing new processes to source efficiencies
  • Analyse, transform and organize raw data.
  • Architect and help build data systems and pipelines
  • Evaluate business needs and objectives
  • Combine raw information from different sources
  • Work on ETL and data loading processes
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition
  • Assist in the development of new products and tools
  • Participate and support the development of analytical reports, including conducting analysis, summarising data and interpretation of results
  • Collaborate with team departments (data services and data analytics) to successfully deliver data products
  • Be the lead on data modelling, database design and implementation for data products and services.
  • Taking ownership of your work schedule and assist with planning and prioritisation of jobs
  • Facilitate data driven decision making across the organisation
  • Assist in development of overall data platform architecture
  • Streamline manual process and automate data processes where appropriate
  • Troubleshoot data related issues
  • Iterate improvements in data models, pipelines and processes and ensure robustness and scalability
  • Assist in miscellaneous projects and tasks that are requested by the Technology leadership team, or arise based on the groups business needs
  • Perform systems analysis and data management
You will need:
  • Ability to undertake a variety of activities with a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy. It is important to be able to work independently within a team.
  • Experience of working with Tableau/PowerBI server infrastructure
  • Strong Organisational skills and must have the ability to manage multiple projects, as well as meet time constraints and expectations.
  • Strong data modelling and SQL/database design skills.
  • Programming skills – specifically those used in managing data and integration data systems and data sources.
  • Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Experience in Tableau Server, T-SQL, Python, SQL Server, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and Tabular data models.
  • Development experience with Python, C#/.Net, SnowFlake, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages.
  • Effective verbal communication skills; strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Knowledge/experience of data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision. This is especially important as the team are a mix of office-based and home workers.
  • Having worked in a cloud data environment (e.g. AWS, Azure, Snowflake) would be beneficial
  • Basic data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge/Experience using data science technologies including predictive and prescriptive modelling techniques
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Tableau, Tableau Server, Snowflake
  • Knowledge of common statistical methods and data science and AI techniques.
  • Project management experience, as a minimum the ability to manage delivery of work within stated timeframes
  • Experience working with common business systems that hold internal data e.g. Salesforce, Marketo, Google Analytics etc.
  • Experience using APIs to interface with external systems.
  • Experience configuring scheduled jobs to run out of business hours.
  • Experience in CSS Styling
