Job Description

Night ShunterLocation: LeicesterMenzies Distribution are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter to join our team in Leicester (LE5 1TZ).What You Really Need To Know:

  • The working week is Monday to Friday
  • The salary for this role is £13.00 per hour
  • After 48 hours have been completed you will be paid Time and Half.
  • 28 Days including Bank Holidays
  • Must be Tug/Terberg trained
  • This role is operating outside in all weathers
  • This a physcially demanding role
Shifts Available
  • 06:00 till 14:00 (Average 14 trailer moves)
  • 14:00 till 22:00 (Average 14 trailer moves)
  • 08:00 till 18:00 (Average 20 trailer moves)
HGV Driver/Shunter Duties:
  • Shunting duties
  • Closing and Opening Curtains
  • General driving duties, observing current legal and best practice delivering and collection to/from our customers premises or other MDS locations.
  • Use of electronic POD and up to date technology (full training provided)
  • Assisting with loading and unloading
  • Rachet, strap and corner management. (De-strapping occasional loads)
  • Working closely with on site customers and FLT drivers
  • Monitoring and checking supplied trailers for defects before presenting to load
  • 3 Seperate Loading Bays
HGV Driver/Shunter Requirements:
  • A full UK C+E licence
  • 12 months previous class 1 driving experience
  • Previous shunting experience (desirable)
  • No more than 6 points on your licence
  • No previous disqualifications
  • Good knowledge of drivers hours and WTD regulations
  • This can be reasonably physical so we ask for this to be considered when applying.
