Job Description

Metalis are currently working with a Fortune 500 company who are at the forefront of designing and manufacturing leading metrology technology for a variety of industries and sectors.PositionAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Test Engineer in the Research and Design department to work on a variety of measurement applications in the fields of high performance fuel efficient engines, aerospace, photovoltaics, smart phone lens modules,the latest Digital SLR camera optics.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will work with the latest instrumentation designs (software and hardware) proving they are fit for purpose, automating testing strategies and investigating areas for design improvements for accuracy, performance and usability.Areas of work may include

  • Proving an instrument system meets specification, including its software applications, and is ready to release to customers.
  • Developing and measuring metrics for performance, usability, repeatability, reliability and quality.
  • Automating test procedures and processes.
  • Managing development and test equipment, software tools, environment/labs.
  • Creating and executing a test plan.
Skills
  • Organised with an analytical and methodical approach.
  • Manual and automated testing of instrument systems
  • Automated testing packages, like Smart Bears TestComplete. Scripting languages and software
  • programming languages like C#, Java, VB.
  • JIRA, Excel and its scripting
  • Ability to visualise in 3D
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electronic systems for motorised devices and gauging.
  • Able to work in with teams both locally and remote, sharing responsibilities as well as leading.
  • Creation of clear, concise and timely reports.
QualificationsQualified to degree level in a science or engineering subject. At least two years experience developing and testing systems, ideally instrumentation.
