Job Description

Empowering Learning are looking for a Teacher to work in a Special Needs Setting in Rural Leicestershire. The ideal candidate should have experience of working with SEND children and hold QTS, though this is not essential. We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers and ECTs. The ability to teach a range of age groups and individual needs wouldbe highly advantageous.The ideal candidate will:

  • QTS or QTLS
  • Have the ability to teach secondary pupils.
  • Knowledge of secondary age curriculum expectations
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Teaching specialist subject to KS3,4 and 5 pupils
  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
  • Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
  • Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
  • Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
  • Possible supervising on lunch and break times
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Building relationships with staff and pupils
  • Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
  • Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
  • To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
  • Potentially lead in a subject area
  • Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carers
