Job Description

Tradewind are recruiting!Are you a Secondary Teaching Assistant whos got a natural ability to engage with hard to reach pupilsAre you empathetic, patient & resilient to challenging behavioursDo you want to make a real impact to young people who need extra support the mostThis is an opportunity for a SEMH Secondary Teaching Assistant for an alternative education provision in the Leicestershire area that caters for young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).The role is offered on a full time & long term temporary basis paying up to £95 per day and could become a permanent appointment for the right candidate.The Role

  • Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.30pm
  • Pay up to £95/day for the first 12 weeks and from the 13th week you would be paid an equivalent rate to what you would get if on contract with the school.
  • SEMH Teaching Assistants will support the class teacher in the delivery of lessons by preventing or de-escalating challenging behaviours, engaging, motivating & maintaining focus of pupils while also assisting with input to learning.
  • Lots of empathy, patience and determination to persevere through challenges in order to help young people make progress.
  • Promote safety, inclusion and a positive learning environment at all times.
  • Liaise with outside professionals, parents and carers as well as other school staff.

  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one)
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
  • Min. of 2 professional references.
  • Provide a CV with a full history.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to cover a range of subjects.
