Job IntroductionAt Turning Point, we support people across England with mental health issues. We make a real difference to their lives as we introduce them to the personal, flexible and realistic support they need to improve the quality of their lives in their communities.Passionate about people, youll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career too, as you gain the experience, training and education you need to progress in your career with us.Leicestershire and Rutland crisis service was established in 2015 to work with people experiencing a mental health crisis who may otherwise need an admission to hospital. We aim to assist service users to overcome their crisis in variety of ways includingone to one and group support, practical strategies to cope with symptoms, and advice and information to improve the person’s ability to live independently.You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including a 6 bed crisis house; in the community delivering a range of outreach crisis support including out of hours crisis cafes; and supporting the delivery of the telephone Mental HealthCentral Access Point.Due to varying locations where we deliver this support, (which includes both the City and the County of Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland) it is essential you either have access to transport or are willing to use public transport in order for you to carryout your day to day role.The service operates on a 24/7, 365 days per year basis therefore there is an expectation you will be working some evenings and weekends.It is a part-time role – hours are negotiable, up to 24hrs per week.Role ResponsibilityThe main purpose of the role is to assist individuals to address and de-escalate their immediate crisis experience in a safe, friendly setting.Your role will be to support people to access the service, create flexible and realistic crisis safety plans and signpost individuals to further support should they need it.The role will require you to offer support face to face and remotely by telephone or online.The Ideal CandidateYou will work as part of a team within the Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Crisis Service.You will need excellent interpersonal communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding and empathy, providing advice and emotional support to individuals.
