Job Description

NCS Community Partnerships Co-ordinatorAn exciting position has become available for a full-time NCS Community Partnerships Co-ordinator based in Leicester. The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week, approx. 3 evenings a month are 5pm to 7pm and will earn £21,000 to £23,000 per annumbased on experience.This role requires a confident communicator who is passionate about making a difference and creating opportunities for participants of NCS to improve their local community. An ability to be creative, make strong connections with stakeholders, and build communitylinks and partnerships is key.We have a group of dedicated NCS alumni called Change Makers that this role leads, with monthly meetings to carry out more long term social impact. Approximately 40% of working time is spent planning, preparing and running the 3 Changemaker groups in Leicester,Coventry and Warwickshire.The majority of the role is to set up links and social action projects in our NCS delivery areas, for NCS groups to tackle during their programmes. This includes setting up and building partnerships with councils, NHS, MPs, Police and local charities andcommunity groups and creating Press Coverage to promote the work of the NCS teams.Role Requirements

  • Experience of organising events.
  • Experience of engaging with a wide range of customers.
  • High standard of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good word-processing ability using MS Office package (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power point).
  • Track record in achieving results and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work to a consistently high standard with minimum supervision.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working on own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Capable of organising a workload and manage priorities, meeting all deadlines.
  • Ability to cope in a time pressurised environment and solve problems.
  • To work a high level accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Driving licence and own transport.
  • Willingness to work outside normal hours and flexibility to work evenings and weekends with prior notice given.
  • A level or equivalent, minimum level of education.
Role Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • To ensure a wide variety of Social Action projects are sourced for each NCS programme so that NCS teams have a varied selection to choose from including hands on revamp, campaigning and awareness raising, fundraising and resource sourcing.
  • To ensure the Social Action Projects have a clear and meaningful impact on the local community and that the young people in the NCS teams can understand and articulate this.
  • Creating and Co-ordinating the Social Actions days including project booklets, staff and young people presentations/briefings, workshops for seasonal staff to deliver, and resources for the teams to use.
  • To brief the NCS participants about Social Action including running workshops on what social action is and how to make a big impact in their area.
  • To secure planning and meeting spaces for all NCS teams, for their Social Action Planning phase.
  • To promote NCS to employers, to encourage their commitment to NCS and secure the following: Donation of resources, such as staff volunteers, rooms to use, equipment, pens, food, etc.
  • To support the planning and delivery of NCS phases alongside teammates to ensure that the content of the programme is of a high standard, which will result in high satisfaction levels from customers.
  • To drive partnership work with local councils, community/voluntary organisations, MPs, the media and charities to embed NCS Social Action into communities.
  • To arrange PR linked to Social Action Projects and the NCS programme and lead the Social Media engagement during programme delivery.
  • To run and brief colleagues and Phase 2 comperes to deliver the networking day in the programme where the young people will meet the social action providers and to co-ordinate the choosing of projects by each team.
  • To work alongside colleagues to support the training of all NCS seasonal staff to ensure consistency and expectations are set for this phase of the programme.
  • To drive improvements through seasonal staff performance to be reflected in the Rant and Rave and internal evaluation scores for the programme to be a minimum of 8 out of 10.
