Job Description

Our client is a M&E contractor based in the heart of Leicester. They provide Mechanical & Electrical building services to a wide range of clients in the commercial, industrial & public realm.Due to company growth, they are looking to bring a Mechanical Estimator into to the team. The successful candidate would have several years experience in a similar role, having estimated for packages that exceed £1M in value.Reports to - Commercial DirectorSector - Mechanical Building ServicesPosition Overview - Mechanical Estimator

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to thoroughly understand project requirements and scope.
  • Utilise industry-standard estimation techniques and software to calculate material, labour, and equipment costs for mechanical projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids and proposals that accurately reflect project costs, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving measures without compromising project quality or specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project requirements, address inquiries, and provide timely and accurate cost estimates.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to generate new business opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitor activity, and potential growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and cost-saving opportunities to continuously improve estimating processes and accuracy.
Position Requirements - Mechanical Estimator
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator or similar role in the construction or mechanical building services industry.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
